how to rig PSK water container carry?

Because of a lack of solutions to the expedient water container here in Oz ( Gerber milk bags never made it mainstream here). I use and teach using ziplok bags, fill them up and stick in your pockets. Not perfect but do-able. I never got into the using condoms for that. Mental gymnastics to put one to my mouth for starters.

yeah- no condoms for lots of reasons :D

I'm sure there is a more elegant solution (post it if you know what it is :)), but several half hitches later looks like it will do in a pinch

this is a platy bottle, but the above linked container is very similarly shaped/sized

Nice Find! I have a couple of the Aqua-Pouch and really like them but these will certainly pack up smaller. Off to order.

While that will certainly work, Why?
Get a Camelback, it can carry 3 ltrs of water, and pack a bunch of other stuff too, And its a damned usefull item even if your not carrying water in it. That said, I have a few of the quart size water bags and a 2 gallon bag. They are for backup. If you find yourself in need of carrying several quart size water bags and have them on hand, likely as not there will be a plastic shopping handy as well, or just drop them into the camelback.

you missed the first post :) these are foldable water containers that fit into a small PSK. I own every size of platy bottle made I think and they are my go to bottles for hiking/hunting/fishing, but I keep two of these foldable containers in my last ditch/psk kit- they hold a quart + of water and pretty sturdy- just trying to figure out how to best carry them when full (cordage is in my psk too :))

I'd probably opt for my "half hitch a plenty" rigging before giving up a sleeve :)

eventually a knot aficionado will stumble into this thread :D

I found this on stormdrane's blog. He does a lot of knot work. There are more complicated examples, but it's probably not worth the effort for a psk.

You might consider getting a plastic mesh bag from the produce section at the grocery store or maybe a cheesecloth sleeve. Another thing you could do is fold another bag over to half height and use the wire ties as a loop to tie cord to. You could put that one over the bottom of the filled water bag & use it as a carrier.

How about a ladie's stocking? :) ("Really, Honey. It's part of my survival kit.")

I use one of the top ones in the first link - fold it in quarters fits in the back of a spec ops shoulder wallet perfectly, also have a second which i've folded again its a little thicker but its now the same size as my PSK tin - which together fit in a belt pouch - I have puritabs and a few other items sitting neatly in the folds

I too use the Aqua Pouches and really like them. They fold down pretty flat (larger PSK's), but the grommets are excellent for making a quick shoulder sling. The 550 cord+several half-hitches is probably your best bet if you want to keep it compact and integrated. Another option is something like this Aqua Sling ...a simple netted pouch with shoulder strap. I have one and it compacts down pretty small.

Here in Brazil I use a five liter bag sold in gas stations that is shaped like a Jerry can. They actually fill these with gasoline, insanity itself. They roll down smaller than a 35 mm film can so they fit in smallish kits very well. Mac

stormdranes link looks like a great way to go for a permanent solution, looks a little complex (for knot challenged folks like myself) for field use :)

my intended use is having the bags folded flat (in a aloksak), if needed removed cordage from my knife to form a carry option- I toted the bottle around slung over my shoulder and it seemed pretty secure, so the half hitch method appears it will work

pict can you post a pic of the five liter container? that sounds very interesting!

Here''s one set up as a camp water station for refilling canteens. You just shove the neck into the filter and lift the bottom of the bag.

Here's another hanging on a shelter. Five liters is alot of water. There are several different types, all have a spout and a handle of some sort. I like this type the best but they have no printing and I haven't been able to find the manufacturer yet.

Mac- those are neat, I'd bet they sell well here if a guy could figure out where to source them :)
