How to see if the blade itself is actual VG-10 (Delica4)

I just received my Spyderco Delica4 from Amazon and need help with one question: After a LOT of research, I inspected a PM2 that I received from Amazon (sold and fulfilled by Amazon, so don't believe the rumor going around that if you buy it from Amazon, its legit) and sure enough, it was a fake. Since then, I have purchased a Delica 4 and it passes all the tests. But no one says how to see if the blade is actual VG-10 or not. How can I test the blade rather than the rest of the knife?
I can't find a way to edit the title (to correct "Delica 4" at the end of the title) even though I CAN edit the body.

Thanks in advance.

you cannot do a test to verify the blade steel.

you could maybe do a rope cut test to see if edge retention is close to other vg10 knives that have been tested but there are lots of variables that don't make that an idea test.

What's this rumor about them being legit if bought from Amazon? Most here with tell you to avoid Amazon like the plague.

If it passes visual inspection it's probably fine.

I've seen several on other forums, including the Spyderco forum.

How do I edit the title to correct Delica at the end (I know how to edit the Body)?
At the top right of the opening post is "thread tools". Mouse over it and you get a drop down menu. One of the choices is "edit thread". Click that and it should give you a popup that will let you adjust the thread title.

That worked!
Thanks

I also don't understand your statement about the 'rumor'.
I'm one of those that avoid them like the plague.
Also, you bought a PM2 and it was fake from Amazon........then you went and bought another knife there? Really??
Confused.
Also, no way to check if blade is as stated.

You avoid Amazon, or Delica's?
Confused.
Bought a Delica because the ''rumors" said "they" don't fake the Delica's as much.
When I wrote "rumors," I should have written my exhaustive research of many knife forums and YouTube.

Avoid Amazon & eBay.
No fake Delicas??
Sal Glesser will tell you that about 10 - 15 years ago the sales of fake Delicas & Enduras almost put Spyderco out of business.

Stick to a reputable dealer and you won't have to spend time trying to figure out if what you bought is fake.

This is the best thing you can do to avoid buying fakes. Reputable dealers don't really sell fakes.

Absolutely!
I'm always curious about how much money is actually saved by taking that chance and can it possibly be worth it??

Really? Sal must have bad memory. Here is a thread from 10 years ago. This doesn't sound like a company that is about to go out of business. They are not even able to meet the demand for Delicas. Sal posts say it all.

Employees at a cutlery retailer are far more likely to notice if someone's returned a fake. At Amazon, the best case scenario is that someone opened the box to verify that there was a knife in the box at all before putting back on the shelf for sale.

I don't think Sal is the kind of guy to share his profit and loss statements with the forums. I mean he will share knowledge, opinion, an ear, but some things I would think he keeps close to his vest. I recall Sal saying at various times that the issue of counterfeit items hits them hard because of how expensive it is to fight the knock offs in another country, as well as the entire distribution chain. If you search, I'm sure you can find at least 3-4 instances where he mentions this.

For knives, stick to a store that sells knives, it's the easiest way to make sure you have a legitimate item.

That was the subtext of my post Rev. Don't believe everything you read on a forum. Everyone believes what they want, when it supports their viewpoint.

So agian the question was asked you used amazon bought a fake then decided to buy another knife and are now asking if it's a fake? Are you just asking to be taken advantage of ?

That's a question that needs to be answered. Now that Amazon is toeing the line on MAP pricing, there is no financial advantage buying there over better retailers. Support the dealers that support BF.

The sheer numbers of fake Spydercos are staggering.
You choose to believe what you'd like, but I'm going to take Sal's word for it that fake Dels & Ends hurt them very badly in the past.
He seems like a trustworthy dude.
