How to see if the blade itself is actual VG-10 (Delica4)

I just received my Spyderco Delica4 from Amazon and need help with one question: After a LOT of research, I inspected a PM2 that I received from Amazon (sold and fulfilled by Amazon, so don't believe the rumor going around that if you buy it from Amazon, its legit) and sure enough, it was a fake. Since then, I have purchased a Delica 4 and it passes all the tests. But no one says how to see if the blade is actual VG-10 or not. How can I test the blade rather than the rest of the knife?
I can't find a way to edit the title (to correct "Delica 4" at the end of the title) even though I CAN edit the body.

Thanks in advance.

Man, I must be on the wrong forum. I thought this was the one where most members knew a lot about what was going on in the "knife world." I can't believe:
1) No one here knows that there are thousands (?) of people reading posts in numerous forums every day that say that if you buy your Spyderco from Amazon, it's legit. I've read at least twenty in the last two weeks while researching the Delica 4.
2) No one hear believes you can buy a Spyderco for less on Amazon than most retail stores. Come on! I just paid $38 less for my Delica on Amazon than several retail stores I checked.
3) No one here has Googled "fake Spyderco" lately. If you do, you will receive many pages full of links to articles discussing number 1 and 2 above.
Palonej - I took Mo2's advice and spent about an hour cutting rope and cardboard then retested the blade by cutting paper and it passed with flying colors.
GoneBad395 and Last Rodeo - The answer to your question pertaining to what is to be gained by buying from Amazon - in my case - is $38!
And to all that helped by sticking to the subject and trying to help me by answering my question (rather than replying to me with their hostile opinions - Remember: You are entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts!), thanks so much.
Now, after all my research, performing thorough inspections, and finally, good old cut testing, I'm comfortable that I have a legit Delica 4 (at a great, fair, price)!
Goodbye. I'm outta here!

Sal says the fake Delicas almost ended Spyderco in 2003, here's a quote (from BF, of all places):

"Endura and Delica copies almost bankrupted us in 2003. They didn't say Spyderco and they had large round thumbstuds designed to look like a hole in the ads. We could buy them in our local supermarket for $5. We came very close to closing the doors."

So, 10 years ago Spyderco was doing fine :) it was 14 years ago that they almost kicked the bucket.

Seems the op only wanted to hear it was real. SO IT WAS REAL there ya go the answer you wanted to here. Still baffles me that after buying a FAKE from amazon you then said I'll take my chances to save 38$ and buy a delica from amazon and then came here asking if it was real lmao. Life is tuff event tuffer when you lack common sense. Also it wasn't me that asked what you could gain from buying on amazon I could careless. My question was why when you bought a fake pm2 from AMAZON would you decide to go back and buy a delica and then come here asking if it was real? You know the old saying fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. But seems like you are satisfied with your delica that's all that really matters.

Amazon is a big problem for fakes now. tho Sal did say they are required to put white labels on the boxes per Amazon... which means they do have real knafs sold there... but which ones are authorized spyderco dealers? don't answer that ... but just think about it.

support blade forum vendors.

but above all, people here still detract from the OP's posts... instead of answering how to test the steel you all decided to focus more on where he bought it and reticule him about not buying from legit vendors... I'm sure he learned a lesson ... but not sure it was to buy from legit retailers.

OP spyderco has Map pricing... vendors on Amazon and everywhere cannot sell below map, so I don't think you actually saved $38. I haven't looked yet but maybe the only advantage is prime, but not sure if that's even an option for the authorized dealers on Amazon or not.

Who decided he got a real Delica?? The OP? How?? By cutting some cardboard?? Doubtful.
Is there anyone here who believes he got a real & brand new Delica for about $20??
Don't see where he was ridiculed, but he got a fake PM2 and went back for more?? Seems silly.
If he posted the truth about the price he paid, he got a fake.

Usually in Amazon an item says "sold by xxxx" and fulfilled by Amazon. Some are legit dealers, others are not. Problem is if a real is bought and a fake is returned. Amazon can't tell the difference and the dealer does not see it since Amazon is fulfilling the orders. The next buyer gets screwed....if he can even tell fake from legit.

are the returns sold as new? or are they sold as used (like new) or open box?

This is the question I have been asking for a long time. Lots of on line retailers offer no questions asked returns, usually the first 2 weeks or so.
Many people abuse this to 'tire kick' and return perfectly good knives just because.
Do the dealers offer these at a discount?? Don't think so. Chances are good, someone else will receive these knives as 'new'.
Not cool.

Good point SS. You aren't dealing with knife people in the larger sporting goods stores and most will take anything back on a return.
As long as it's a knife, any knife, in a knife box.....they will accept it.
I remember buying a pellet gun there and received an old beat up gun in a brand new box.
Happens all the time.

Right lol at work we tell the new apprentice if you're going to be dumb ya better be tuff lmao. Just can't understand why after a first fake ya buy there agian then come here asking. Glutton for punishment?

Some people always look for something to be offended by,the same people nitpick things they know little to nothing about. What is even better is that some people just love living in perpetual ignorqnce, and only hear what they want to hear. That is their "truth and righteousness". Oh well, good riddence I guess.

So the standard price is about $66 new most places, minus your $38... So a brand new legit Delica 4 for a whopping $28? Is that the claim OP? Or was it used? Fulfilled by Amazon or 3rd party direct? You can barely get a well used old one for $30 on auction...
