How to spot a fake CRK?

that's what I'm saying! Some of that stuff is subtle.

Is the pivot larger on the fake?

See I'm not pulling your leg! But it was 455.00

CPP,
just what you said earlier, post 11 has Allen head screws not torx.
The clone also has mixed screw heads correct?

I was wrong about #11, but #10 is mixed. I should have quit while I was ahead.

On the 21 all three screws are the same size but on the 25 and the Inkosi the pivot is larger than the other two

cnm123, I myself wouldn't buy from the guy with admitted fakes, and a discount. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

This..

When in doubt, move on. The exchange is a good place to buy as well as the authorized dealers.
There is also a facebook group specifically for this.
If it's questionable, post up pics and to the extent we are allowed and can, we can help determine authenticity.
Small pics and or blurry pics are a good reason to move on to the next potential buy.

That one is a fake too. The lockbar depressions are on the outside while on a real CRK they would be on the inside. Also, the finish looks too shiny. They did a good job on the inlays though.

Those aren't lockbar depressions, they're tooling marks that are common on inlaid models.

Whoops, sorry, I have a small 21 and there is only one shallow lockbar relief on the outside, yours must be a large to have two. Or, perhaps they changed the design slightly. Bummer, I thought I could start CRK-fake-detection company

That's not a lock bar relief. All inlays have those grooves. They're for a stopping point for the polished slab on the lock side. Even though the micarta inlay is not polished, it still has the grooves

Hi all, i purchased a Mnandi on the bay about a month ago, and being the only knife i've ever purchased on the bay, it's left a lingering feeling of doubt. the knife itself seems completely legitimate in the hand and when i disassembled to it to clean, but i've only owned one other CRK before (small sebenza 21 that i don't own anymore), so my confidence level isn't really there. the only reason i'm feeling a little worse about it is that i noticed the seller sold the exact same knife twice. Of course, there is a logical explanation that it was returned... but, it would be great if you guys could take a look and see if there's anything that raises red flags. thanks in advance guys

From what I can see, it looks good.
Usually, high resolution shots work better..also works better if it's opened up so we can see the blade.
