How to spot a fake or real sebenza?

Given the value of the rest of the knives there that "Sebenza" sticks out a bit, actually a lot. The picture is bad too but the blade profile looks a lot like that on the fake Regulars, no box , no papers, crazy low price..... There are so many red flags here I don't know where to start. That knife is a fake, IMO. If you buy it you will be making no friends here.

If it sticks it's stainless steel (fake), if it's not sticking, there's a chance it's real. But like I just said, the back of the thumbstud doesn't seem anodised, wich would mean it's fake.
I have never had any luck getting a magnet to stick on stainless steel.

Difficult to tell much by that picture, but judging by the rest of the collection I'd bet the Sebenza is fake. The entire collection might be worth as much as a CRK slip case.

If its too good to be true, it ain't.

Its a fake. Handle shape is off, the hardware is too big (the bottom left screw looks like it actually hangs over the edge of the frame), it doesn't look like it has a lanyard hole and the dent in the middle of the clip should be inward, this one looks like it bulges outward.

Ok so about an hour ago, I saw a guy that posted this picture on a trade and exchange page on facebook.

He is selling his knife collection and in the contents and his comments you can clearly see he is only a kid that bought these knives because the look cool and not because of their quality.
But I know you saw the same thing as me: A FREAKING SEBENZA!?!?!
So I want to know some tricks so I can know for sure if it's not a fake and if it's a real, I bet you he has no idea of it's value and I'll get it for 25$

So please share your knowledge with me and wish me luck!

Also I might snag what seems like a couple leathermans :P
How did he get it so cheap he would be willing to let it go for around $25? I think it is probably one of those POS China junk knives.

Looking at the pic again that is a small Regular Sebenza. The standard handle on a SAK is 3 inches so that can't be a large Regular. That would explain the blade profile but not the rest of the issues.....I'll be interested to see better pictures of this knife.

I'm holding my small regular up to the screen but the picture is way too small and too fuzzy to tell. The blade shape seems a bit off, and the bottom left screw seems too close to the edge, but it would take a much higher quality image to really say. Who knows, maybe he came across one as a gift or an inheritance, but if it is real it way outclasses all the rest of the knives in the collection.

Picture is terrible, but the hardware does not look right. I would just stay away from the trade or sale personally, but if you want to take the risk then that is up to you.

Given the the cheap price, it might be fun just to gamble. And that's just what it is, too - a gamble. I'd be surprised, really, if you ever get any of the knives in that picture, much less the would-be Seb. The upside might be pretty cool though

The only knife that I'm reasonably sure is authentc is the Buck 112, and that has a sharpened down blade. A few of the SAKs may also be real, but some are fakes.

Finally got some news!

I made him do some tests on the knife, and the handle is Ti for sure and the blade seems like the real deal since it apparently leave good scratches on other knives without dulling it's tip.
Apparently the knife was his father's and he apparently got it like 15 years ago. For now the knife looks real and I'm probably buy him at a reasonable price.

I don't know. I'm tempted to think it might be real. The overall wear pattern is very even. It looks like a very pocket worn knife which coincides with the story. The fakes have not been around THAT long. Also lack of lanyard. This doesn't seem like somebody who's buying the chinese fakes for resale.

Also, keep in mind criminals might not even know what a CRK is or its value.

This could simply be a theft.

but who knows these days.

Either buy the dang knife or give me his contact info and I'll buy the knife myself. For $25, I can afford to find out if it's a junker or not.

There tests you are asking him to do are meanigless and prove nothing out side of the fact the it is "a knife". That knife is a small regular sebenza and so far any fakes of those are yet to surface. The knife looks real enough to me and may well even be a BG-42 Regular, but there are a few buts here....

Finally got some news!

I'm gonna buy it from him soon, but before I do, am I the only one that thinks the CR logo is misplaced? I don't own a sebenza yet but the ones I see on google/youtube have their logo perfectly centered to the pivot but not this one.
