How to stop a 2 month old puppy from barking

The new issue of "Dog Fancier" has a very good article on problem barkers and why dogs bark. I saw it yesterday and started it but had to go back to work. You might pick up a copy and check it out. At least you'll know what you're dealing with.

Oh it would work on you too Cougar, just wimper and get spoiled rotten. Besides, women have a knack for spoiling man or beast and perhaps there's a strange coincident there! :eek: :D

That's not what the sticky says by Spark, it says you can hug anybody you want to. Come here Esav, sit! Good boy, here's a bone and a hug.;)

Ok, he likes to play rub the tummy and the best $1.00 I ever spent was on a rubber hot dog chew toy...I'm actually learning more about having fun with the most simple little things like that, makes you feel like a kid again! Roll over Cougar, good boy!!!
 
Hugging him every time he barks is positive reenforcement for bad behavior!

He's your dog Charley Brown but I deal every day with dogs like him that got just what they wanted or did just what they wanted. :barf: We usually muzzle them and /or sedated them to do anything including routine exams.:thumbdn:
 
Just a thought: an acquaintance of mine was in a dog obedience class with his Doberrman and there was a woman in the class complaining about her dog barking all of the time. Well, the trainer helped her train the dog to keep quiet and the dog got the message. It kept quiet, even when burglars broke into the house!
 
Sorry I'm late getting back to this thread but I was up late last night barking at the moon and I have been chasing cars all morning.
