Isn't the bar stock annealed when you buy it, I would think it has to be for the stock removal crowd. AFAIK, file work should be done before hardening.

I've always enjoyed looking at beautiful file work, but honestly I don't quite get it. For me it seems to be a case where a choice is made in the favor of aesthetics rather than function. My thumb often fatigues and becomes uncomfortably tender after a long knife using session if there is texture on the spine. (Even with my fairly calloused thumb. ;))

Now that looks good!

You all missed the problem that is clearly present in the first photo. Look carefully and you will notice that there are a pair of glasses on the shelf. These belong on the face! :D

DELOID lmao I have 10 pair of glasses one in every room of the house. 3 pair in the shop and I still keep loosing them. I just bought 3 magnifying lamps and my file work has again improved , it really helps to see what your doing. When I was 20 I was told by the Optomitrist I had the best eyes he ever tested 29/20 both eyes but as time went on my eyes worstened I have 20 /20 but cant read with out glasses and to see file work is impossible. The magnifyer lamp makes this a whole new game , filling will be way better. kellyw
