How tough are Emerson knives in reality ?

I'm going to plug one very overlooked Emerson model - the Max-1 (originally the Mach-1). Nice handle shape, great utility blade, plenty strong and not too difficult to sharpen despite the chisel grind. Hmm, now that I think about it, maybe I shouldn't be selling mine...

In this, and similar cases, i just can't fathom why anyone would buy a knife, notice that it fails and then make absolutely NOTHING to contact/notify the maker? IF some lock on any knife fails that easily then it is not up to spec. simple as ****..

I find it super-weird that you buy a knife for around 150-210 bucks and then "sell" it for a 40 bucks meal without even trying to have the maker fix it??

When i've had any problems with a knife from various manufacturers i've contacted them and so far i've received good service from them all (if i recall correctly)

Emersonknives has always been very nice and friendly to me, as has Sal Glesser of Spyderco.

The liner failed miserably. I have since traded it to a friend, with knowledge of the problem and an obvious disregard for his own fingers, in exchange for a $40 dinner.:grumpy:

to buy anything for $160 then sell for $40 without contacting the manufacturer / maker is crazy....however should someone care to continue this craziness... I think you will have people lined up for a $40 Commander/Mini Comm / Psark :D

I have seen the same thing happen with guns... people buy one...happen to get one with a fault and never try to get it fixed/made right by the maker/manufacturer but sell it at a loss instead.

I guess some have more $$$ to blow than others and don't mind taking a $120 loss.... not me... $120 buys allot of food ... 480 cups of Ramen Noodles ;)

It would be a shameless plug if I didn't have to pay to read it... besides I know how great my Mini Comm is anyways ;)
