We just got this email. I hope he's implying that "should" he ever break his knife and not simply that he wants a plain edge so he plans to break this one.

Begin email: "If I break my serrated Esee knife, could I ask for a replacement knife without serrations?"

That was all the email consisted of. Nothing more. Not even a name or signed in any way.

I emailed him back and told him no since we replace what was broken.

Sounds fair.
Replace what they owned, not what they didn't.

Looks like he/she is fishing for a new knife and doesn't like the serrartions...

yikes... sounds like he's planning on breaking it for a plain edge to me. gotta love people who try and scheme to take advantage of such a great warranty. seems like a good way to make a good thing go away. at least they asked instead of just doing it though.

Wasn't talking about what I said. Mainly I was asking how yall interpreted what the dude emailing me said. Maybe I'm just reading things into something that's not there?

to me its seemed he was asking if he could break his serrated knife and get a plain edge instead.

odd.

That's the way I interpreted it. If it was me I would have asked if I could trade it in or something. Maybe I'm reading this whole thing wrong. Hope so.

I wouldnt jump to conclusions but if he emails you next week with a broken in
half blade then its kind of obvious hes up to no good.

Sounds like the fella didn't like the knife he payed for and wanted another one on your dime.

I believe the French refer to that as being a "douche."

You should email him back and tell him that you are not meaning to judge his intentions but if he is planning on replacing one knife model for another through the manipulation of an outstanding and honorable warranty he should be ashamed of himself.

Tell him that you provide the warranty because you guys believe that there are still honest people out there and that if he is planning on doing what it sounds like he is planning to do he should go find some other brand of knife to use because your guys stuff is made for people with integrity.

Let him know that having a warranty like that hurts you guys financially but you are so dedicated to providing the highest quality knives that you put the warranty in place to prove that you guys stand behind you products. Taking advantage of the honest policy of honest people is not only shameful but disgraceful.

I hope you guys don't have anymore boneheads trying to cheat the system, I deeply respect how you guys stand behind your products and the quality you provide in your knives and gear.

Not sure that is his intentions. That's the reason I asked for feedback.

It sure sounds like thats his intentions. I'm not sure what else he could be attempting to ask.

I'd guess he asked for an ESEE knife for Christmas, opened it up yesterday and saw it had serrations (which he didn't inform the gift giver that he didn't want..), logged onto the ESEE website, saw the warranty and figured he'd shoot off an email before he dusted off his vice and sledgehammer.

Either that- or he's bored, surfing the 'net, and likes emailing hypothetical questions.

People write so poorly nowadays, it could mean anything. :)

I'm nots no Engrish teacher, but peoplez sure do right funny now. :D

Sounds like another person trying to make sure they could screw the system to get what they wanted. Replace what was broken, stopped that in the track. I hate it when people begin to start looking for loopholes, means they are not too far from finding one.

Good call Jeff, I think the guy wants a non serrated knife.

There will always be dishonesty in a system but it doesn't mean we will change ours because of a few assholes. Not saying that's what this email is. Just struck me strange.
