How would yall take this email?

I'd point him in the direction of the FOR TRADE area of Bladeforums.com...

Jeff,
Did you replace the RC-4 that used in the hockey mask guys knife destruction test?

My interpretation......
I sensed a motive here which normally voids warranties.

Since ESEE guarantee its knives with no question asked - it should only be replaced with the exact same knife - same type, same color.

Personally - my opinion is to VOID warranty if it is intentionally damaged. There are way too many asshole in this world who would advantage.

I am not saying the sender of the email is.

If you are REALLY asking how I would take this email, I would say I took it as a question that you answered.

Honestly, I am not sure how to take this thread....

It does sound like someone who might break the knife they have, to get a different one. Or someone who asks strange questions, just because.

to me its seemed he was asking if he could break his serrated knife and get a plain edge instead.

odd.

This.

It's all your fault he bought the serrated version, so he should be able to just break a perfectly good knife and make you foot the bill for the one he has now decided he wants.

/sarcasm

Sorry to say it brother, but No Questions Asked, means just that. I know Jeff and Mike have replaced some knives that were intentionally broken. Just how they are.

The only time I ever asked ESEE about a warranty, was when I was fixing a tip on an ESEE 4 that I got in a trade. Someone went Sharpmaker, all the way up PAST the tip. The question wasn't in regards to me breaking it or getting a replacement, I just wanted to make sure the warranty would not be voided if I passed it along to another person. It was Mike that responded, and he responded with "No Questions asked, means just that. You're good to go". I fixed the tip, and used the hell out of the knife. It now rides on a young mans hip, as his first serious fixed blade. I told him about the warranty, and all the said was, "Yeah, whatever, who in the hell could break this thing".

We just got this email. I hope he's implying that "should" he ever break his knife and not simply that he wants a plain edge so he plans to break this one.

Begin email: "If I break my serrated Esee knife, could I ask for a replacement knife without serrations?"

That was all the email consisted of. Nothing more. Not even a name or signed in any way.

I emailed him back and told him no since we replace what was broken.

Pure hypothetical.

You should have answered in turn.

Begin email: "If you send us your address, could we have an ass-whoopin' team stop by there on Thursday?"

See? Pure hypothetical.

How does one go about being on the ESEE Warranty Ass-Whoopin' team? I only ask, because I am looking for a part time job with travel benefits. What skill sets are needed and do we provide our own gear/equipment? What about clothing? Will we be issued uniforms, or do we just supply our own?

Eh. it's the same reason you can't take in a damaged video/videogame/software and get store credit. People are jackasses. As for the OP, yea... he's unhappy about a serrated and wants to jack it up to trade it in for a plain blade. That's exactly how to take that.

I understand the feeling....but there are other ways to solve that problem.

I'm a bigger fan of plain edges than serrated edges. That said the serrations on ESEE knives aren't difficult to remove.I plain edged my 3-mil in about an hour with no issues whatsoever.I just used a coarse diamond stone until the edge was flush then used progressively finer and finer stones until it was razor sharp.I've been using it hard ever since and it works flawlessly.
