How would you describe your knife collection?

I don't really collect but I have a a mixture of blades from modern to traditional, folding to fixed blade.... It's a hobby. The only companies I am particularly loyal to are Victorinox and Great Eastern Cutlery. If I ever collect, it will be traditional knives.

Meager but useful. Mostly Buck with some Kershaw, Condor, Herter's, Becker even a couple of old Sears and my 65 YO Boy Scout

Random givers of happiness
Extremely random, but if I like them I buy them. If I use them and don't enjoy them I trade them away.

When I collected years ago I collected custom hunting knives. I buy folding knives and other types of fixed blades that I like and/or that I expect to use. I don't really consider them to be a collection.

I don't collect anything, although I used to collect PM2's and Millies. Sold them.

Functional. I don't collect and I won't own a knife I am reluctant to use.

I specifically collect usa made schrades. Everything else is because I like it for one reason or another, I stopped counting after a couple hundred. Lately I've been trading/selling some stuff out to consolidate and be more selective.

Describe my collection (accumulation)? Odds and Ends, smaller than I would like and larger than my wife would like.

Every knife in my collection is "the one." I see a knife and decide it is a perfect fit for me. It is the knife best suited for my life and my tastes. I carry it and enjoy it, but I keep looking at other knives like an idiot. So, naturally, I find "the one" again.
I tend towards, the perfect middle of the road knives. Ones that are not limiting. I want them strong, but light. Durable enough I don't have to worry about it, but thin enough to slice. Big enough for food prep, but small enough to use in public without making a scene. Well made, but not too fancy looking or so expensive I can't justify using it. My favorite knives are my L and S Sebenzas, delica, mini commander, 0566, and skyline.

I have to rely on looks to start ,there isn't anywhere close to me that I can go and handle any to see what I like . I'm drawn to fixed ,drop points with high end steels . Usually between 3 and 5 in. My collection is getting a little bit out of hand ,sometimes I forget that I have certain models , and that makes me realize that I probably have too many now

"What did you get in the mail?" she inquired.

"A knife." I answered.

"Don't you already have One?" she insisted.

"Yes, dear." rolling my eyes. "Not this one though."

Mostly my collection is Case xx brand but I am not ashamed to buy or barter for any knife that I seem to find visually appealing or that would function better for a specific task than one I already have. I just like handles with steel attached that can/has been sharpened to a position where I can cut stuff

Funny, the one thing I "collect" is the one type of knife I rarely use or carry because it just does not meet my EDC needs. The Victorinox/Wenger Alox Soldier. Also have a few Vic Pioneers and an Electrician thrown in for good measure.

Most of what I EDC is Benchmade. It is just the way things have worked out. Not a fanboy, I just like their Axis Lock. I find that I don't care for most of what they offer and that, in my mind, they have made some really poor marketing decisions lately. Would not surprise me if they crash and burn or at least become a second rate knife company like Gerber has become.

"Bunch of traditional-style slipjoints with a few modern-style folders."

Practical...

Well, maybe one or two that are ludicrously unnecessary:D
