This has been bothering me all day long, not because I lost money but because I feel cheated.

I bought a Sebenza in the exchange a couple of days ago, we agreed on the price and fees, etc, everything is fine, and this morning I get a private message that says "bad news, I just moved and I can't find the box, I looked everywhere and I can't find it, sorry for the inconvenience, I will issue you a refund shortly".

Well, I bought a knife, not a box, so I should get my knife right? Where is my tracking number that you promised yesterday? The seller did not even ask if I want a refund, he just refunds me the money and the thread is now closed as "sold"; of course I responded to his p.m. and said it would be fine to ship the knife without the box, but I got no response.

Maybe I am just venting because it makes me feel good, I sent a PM to a moderator to hear what he had to say, but I got no reply, I know they are busy and this is really not that big of a deal. But tell me what you think, I really think in this forum it should be: let your yea be yea and your no be no. It is just a matter of principle, I think.
I'm done and thanks for reading this and for your input.

My guess is he probably got an offer for more money after he agreed to sell you the knife... and that sucks!!!

excuse sounds plausible....................

I have edited my post to reflect my position, sorry

Why not post the name of this seller and thus give him the chance to respond and say why he cancelled the deal instead of first asking you if o.k. to just send the knife because box is lost.

Or, he's moving and just said the hell with it and has other things on his plate right now. Did I understand that you got all of your money back? If so, who cares? Move on, it's just a knife!

I can't say I'd be happy in that situation either, but you got you're money back. I wouldn't get too upset, just wait for the next one to come up for sale. Nothing can be done about this "deal" at that point.

I would not rate this as Bad or Ugly, but simply as Unfortunate. You do not know why he refunded you, but you don't mind ripping up his reputation. After that, I guess he won't ever sell to you, or tell us what really happened here.

I don't think we're getting more very sensitive people here lately. We are getting a lot more who feel it's all right to "vent". Man up. When someone walks away from a deal, one thing is pretty sure -- you are better off not dealing with someone who would rather not deal with you. You dodged a bullet. Unhappy deals are the ones most likely to go bad.

Sound advice.

Also, not posting his name because you want to save his rep is a little silly. Took about 15 seconds to figure out who you are talking about.

Wow. I'm on a 7 day rotation and have been off BF till next week. But I got an email from a friend saying this thread was started. I listed the blade with box and all paperwork included and when I got home I can't find anything box and all are gone. I can't list a knife one way and sell another. I don't do business that way. Using PP I go by there rules, if there was a problem my thread would be used and it clearly states what's for sale. The knife is still in my possesion it wasn't sold to somebody else for a higher price. I sent a PM explaining exactly what happened. Sorry if my refund of the full amount was to fast but got to get to work. But being thrown under the bus because of this is unfair.

The OP, left out the 3rd GBU option: "GOOD." FWIW, I've had 2 awesome transactions with, TMCGLASSON36, & in my opinion, he's as honest, & trustworthy, as any member I've had the pleasure of dealing with, here on BladeForums.

95 BF transaction, with 100% Feedback- I'm on this member's side, he's definitely one of the "GOOD" guys!

Semper Fi! Thank you, for your service,:thumbup:

Life happens...this thread, IMO, never should've been posted.

Edit:
Seems that both parties were trying to do the right thing.
Just my take. I don't thing there are any bad guys here, and both parties are in the same position they were in prior to the sale. Rock on.

^^^
I completely agree. I checked out the OP's post history, & he seems to be a straight shooter. I we can all relate, how excited some of can sometimes get, waiting for that certain grail knife to arrive. BTW- that Sebbie, is a beauty! ;)

Seems that both parties were trying to do the right thing, and poor communication got in the way. It would have been better to ask if the buyer wanted the sale undone, than to undo it without his consent.

Among people who are trying to do the right thing (buyers and seller, husbands and wives, etc.), the vast majority of issues result from a lack of direct, unequivocal, crystal clear communication.

You said it--the feedback rating speaks volumes here. 95 total transactions with 100% feedback? It doesn't get much better than that. OP has 1 transaction.

That is one heck of a good point. With the sale completed and not as described the seller would be at the whim of the buyer because the buyer could always point to the ad and say the item was not as described. This could leave a black mark on the sellers record with paypal.

Agreed. Sucks for the buyer but smart for the seller.

I know for a fact that Alex will have a sebenza 25 very soon. I will be shipping him one today. Maybe things happened for a reason, I know you will be happy with this one.

But isn't this forum here to vent, to let people know about things that aren't worthy of iTrader feedback but still should be out there for the forum? So we can watch out for patterns, people who are constantly flaking on their word and other such events? This case worked out okay, but I will never understand people being told to not discuss transactions here. I had a member contact me, work out a trade, had me ship my knife, never sent his, waited until he had mine arrive at his post office, then refuse shipment. I went out of my way to do a trade he asked for, took my time out to ship it, and it was refused because the member felt uncomfortable darling with Canadians- after he had product in hand. He refunded my shipping price to me, and turned into a great jerk. But because no money changed hands and he sent it back there was no need to start a thread here letting others know of his actions. In the end I was still out money, as I had to pay for shipping my product back to me. But because of the prevailing attitude of shaming others for writing when they feel wronged, I let me loosing ~$25 to send my knife to the states go, but later decided that I feel that this attitude only helps out those who screw people around, so will not be quiet any more.

No money loss= no foul doesn't equate in my books. Somebody jerking people's time and money around should be able to be reported, isn't that what GB&U is for? If people were more apt to discuss people like Liu Kang, maybe the problems would be dealt with before they became the problems that they were in the end.

Respectfully, just my opinion.

No biggie, as no harm done.
Just bad communication(or lack of by seller in this case), as is often the problem here in GB&U.
But, the seller was busy and probably had no time for further communication.
Not his fault, and he did the right thing by issuing a refund since he knew he was about to be offline for a while.

If me, I would want the seller to send me an PM(or email) asking me if I wanted the knife with no box, or a refund. That would've been that.
But in this case the seller couldn't get online, and it's fully understandable why he issued a refund.

The buyer didn't know why he wasn't getting a response until this thread, so I don't think he did anything wrong either.
I would deal with either of them.

This has been bothering me all day long, not because I lost money but because I feel cheated; what burns me the most is that the guy says he is a Marine, his avatar and signature scream 'USMC', and I had a better opinion and respect for them, some of my best friends have served and I really respect them because of their honesty, maturity and character.

I think this guy, (I don't want to say his forum name, and maybe I should since he has been selling a few Sebenzas lately, I checked, he is in Louisville KY) just ignores me and doesn't respond at all. Just like when I said in a p.m. that I was thankful for his service to this country. I could care less about the knife at this point, and at least he refunded the money, but don't you think that is a very lame way to get out of selling what you have already been paid for? Why not just be a real "marine" and be honest and say something like "I made a mistake man, and I really don't want to sell this knife, I will send you the money back" or something like that, that would show more integrity than a lame shit excuse, and an apology would leave a better taste in my mind.

I'm saying all this because it really bothers me to think that someone is so proud to have served this awesome country in the USMC, that puts the logo in his avatar and even says something to the effect that "freedom is a taste that the protected will never know about", or some bullshit like that in his signature, and then acts like a guy who has the character of a teenager, it burns me dude.

I know, I am just venting because it makes me feel good, I even sent a PM to a moderator to hear what he had to say, but I got no reply, I know they are busy and this is really not that big of a deal. But tell me what you think, I really think this kind of behavior should not be allowed in this forum; let your yea be yea and your no be no.
I'm done and thanks for reading this and for your input.

The OP gets a complete refund and post this nonsense.

I would rate this garbage as Bad and Ugly
