How's the Blur?

along with a CB bladed version using 14C28N for the spine and ZDP-189 for the cutting edge.

Thanks for the correction on the blade steels. I'm not sure if it was plain carelessness or "old timers" on my part. Kershaw has the ZDP heat treat down to an art so this is going to be a nice one. Hopefully it will be around a couple of months as it's going to take that long to save up for it.

A blur in ZDP isn't something I would be comfortable passing on. I recall a time in the old place we used to hang out when we were bugging Thomas for this very knife.

BTW, thanks for making it happen Thomas.

I REALLY want one with the Silver Twill inlays. Maybe for Christmas :D

Also if you don't or can't carry an assisted knife in your local area you can easily take the knife apart and remove the torison bar to make it a manual only knife. Also if you make it manual knife if you have it set for tip up carry it will wave out of your pocket cause of the awesome thumb stud it has.

Wont you lose closed-blade retention if you take out the torsion bar? Heard some owners of the zt line mention this.

I would say the Blur has one of the best (for me) feeling grips of all my knives. When I first got my Tanto Blur from Walmart, I couldn't believe its quality. So good I immediately ordered the OD Green CPM-154 blade.

I can agree with that. It also has a great action. The A.O action opens and locks with a confidence inspiring sound and feel.

The choice of very well heat treated and ground top end steels adds to it. Throw in Kershaws unbeatable W&R ( I've never needed it though) and it's a confidence inspiring knife. One of Kershaws best IMO.

The way i'm talking it's pretty apparent I've decided to buy the next one as it comes out. I'll have to put it on pre order.

Man, I hate when I do this! :(

I love the knife, but I have to admit one of the real draws for me is the ability to collect the different colors and different steels. One could specialize in just Blurs for a collection, and have a very impressive collection. This includes the best super steels, and slightly different grip configuration.

All backed up by what is , IMO, the best W&R dept in the industry.

Blur steels so far:

440A
13C26
S30V
S60V
3G?
14C28N
CPM 154 ( not 154cm, but the crucible powder steel version)

As I understand it there will be a CPM D2/ZDP189 version coming out in the future. In addition to the different steels, there have been different versions such as the Rescue, the OCC, etc. Different colors to signify different runs of the same steel ( S30V), etc.

Yep, one could do a whole lot worse than having a Blur collection. Personally, I was keeping up for a while, but got behind due to money reasons.

I don't recall a Blur with "3G". Can anyone fill me in?

Thanks for the correction on that. I'll chalk it up to "old timers" as I do know the difference, and own 2 knives with SG2, and 2 with 3G.

Sweet baby jesus I must have.

That hits me just like the composite Leek did. WOW!:D It is a must buy when I can. Need to get back to work first and get past Christmas. So hopefully they will still be round in 2 or 3 months.

I loose some retention but I keep the pivot screw a little tighter, so it can still wave but won't open up in my pocket.

And that composite Blur looks amazing, when and where will I be able to pick that up, I saw that on the Kershaw page of Facebook. And I was like WANT!

AMAZING KNIFE !!! I have had the S30V plain recurve edge as my edc for years now ND IT HAS OUT PREFORMED EVERY OTHER FOLDER I HAVE SEEN!

BEFORE I CARRIED THE s30v VERSION i CARRIED THE TANTO HALF SERRATED VERSION...AMAZING KNIVES WITH A LIGHTNING QUICK ACTION !

Always loved the Blur, especially in Red/Black, but for some reason always ended up with a spydie. How does their 440A stand up again, say, VG-10? Both edge retention as well as corrosion...

It's dark brown anodized Aluminum. The inserts appear to be standard Trac-Tec...
