Hultafors HVK and GK, Photo Review...

If I ever make it to Sweden on vacation I will be sure to visit as many garbage dumps as possible and come back with a couple of suitcases full of unsharpened Mora and Hultafors knives.

Thats what I was thinking:D
I used to own the Green brute...it was to much in my opinion...not the blade, but the handle. It didnt allow me to carve in the way a mora does.
If you want tough, get a Mora 510 carbon steel. The tang runs almost all the way to the butt, and it will do anything you want it to...unless you are chipping out concrete;)
Overall, I liked the Big one...but I had so many knives with the same thickness in the blade, with more comfortable handles...that I never really used it, and ended up selling it.
Now that Orange one looks pretty good:thumbup:

No kidding!

Thank you very much! Very illustrative...

I have 3 of the GK's. The steel is SK-5. Best "Moras" I've ever owned.

Visiting garbage dumps is maybe not the best idea, but an idea from the Norwegian knife assosiation is to visit industry companties and ask if you can sort thru their vaste bins, appearently that is what the #in-the-know# do.

They have the orange one at Jula for 30 Nkr. (about 5-6 usd).

I'm thinking of buying a few to rehandle.

That`s the way it is, sometimes you just walk into a store somewhere, and you just find extra-cheap Mora(and now also Hultafors)knives.

For rehandling, good idea for that price(but for one reason or another I bought so many Frost Mora laminated blades back when they was easily available here they`ll probably last the rest of my life.)

Since I'm still learning to put handle on knives (just done a few), I thought so too. It also gives me some cheap blades that my kids can practise with to.
PS: where do you live? I'm close to Kristiansand.

Om bilen funkat kunde jag kört till Kornsjö och skickat några knivar till dig :)

So does anyone sell the heavy duty GK ones in the USA or do they have to be ordered from Europe?

Anyone got a website link?
Thanks.
