Hultafors HVK and GK, Photo Review...

There will be no "driving to Norway to mail knives"-trips in the nearest future. These parts of Sweden is under level 2 alert because of the weather.
On one of the main roads a truck ended up in the ditch. The tow truck arrived, just to be hit by another truck. That is the story all over sweden now. Trucks from southern Europe come here with crappy summer tires and no chains and ends up all over the place.

We had a similar situation here....

40 miles to the East, the Interstate Highway, commonly called a Freeway, goes through 2 mountain passes. And this highway is the only paved road that goes into or out of this county... And they were regularly getting semi truck and trailers jackknifed across the road....

It is wild and wooly around here, still.

Well, both Mora knives of any model and the Hultafors knives are more or less "use once" knives. The knives are not bad quality but since they cost next to nothing in Sweden it is easier to just pick a new one than sharpen it.

I myself have not tried any of the models for real, but the HVK is quite similar to a generic Mora knife is style ans size.

Now I am going off to the hardware store to get more knives :)
Don't throw them away! Start stashing them in a box. I'll give you $2 for each of these in sets of 20.

It makes me crazy that you can just waltz into any old hardware store and buy Mora's cheaply.
Sorry, I'm just trying to cope with my Mora fixation.:)

This is an old thread but nevertheless I'm interested in finding Hultafors HK. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks for your reply

I'm not sure if you're wanting the HVK or GK, but both should be available. I have quite a few GK's and they're beasts! The SK5 steel is quite hard, but takes punishment. It seems Hultafors isn't as interested in the US market as Mora, so the distributors are overseas and this results in them being more costly here than elsewhere. The new Mora Robust Pro (I believe that's the name) looks very close to the GK and several Mora models would be close to the HVK, I believe. Good luck.

ETA: The belt loops on Hultafor's sheaths suck. They're really designed for a button attachment. Somewhere there's a thread of an adapter I made for them.
