That's a sleek looking knife. I'm just curious about the weight and the center point of balance on this knife with using Corian for the handle. Can you describe these specifications, please? I've never held a corian handled knife before. What does it feel like? Is it slick in feeling?

When buffed, corian is pretty slick, but this handle was finished to 400 grit to avoid that. So, it's smooth, but not slippery.

It balances right behind the front most bolt. I don't have a scale handy, but I would say it's slightly heavier than the same knife with micarta. Not much.

Thanks for asking!

just curious, how is this handle pinned? Is it nickel silver or stainless?

I used stainless bolts. I get them from Sheffield Supply. I don't like to use pins, because I always feel like the scales might pop off someday.

I really like your work, particularly the lines of the handles. For a knife this size, I'd prefer a higher grind. The tapered tang is a nice touch, a good idea for the slightly heavier corian. I have a couple knives with corian handles, and I like them a lot. It's a nice alternative to micarta, and functionally, will be excellent over time.

Good work.

Thanks for your comments!
I like higher grinds also, but I only have a 10" wheel right now, so I don't think it would work with a blade this width. I was pricing bigger wheels a few days ago for just this purpose, and they're almost $400  So I'm going to have to save up for awhile...
