A while back I took the advice of someone here, and bought a Buck 110.. I had no idea this knife was so heavy.. 7.4oz on my archery scale to be exact. I am curious,,does Buck make a lighter version?

Check out the Buck folding ErgoHunter.

Another lightweight option from Buck is the Bantam 286 (BHW). You can probably find one locally for around $20.

It weighs 3.2 oz. The smaller 285 weighs 2.4oz.

Check the secondary market for a Bucklite, I believe one model had a blade very similar to the 110.

No. The original buck-lites had a 110 blade, but no steel liners. There were also the 110 paperstones, but those are harder to find anymore. I really wish buck would make a lighter 110. Maybe skeletonized steel liners with no bolsters and g10 or even zytel. Until that happens though, sheath carry is the best option.

It is a pretty heavy and pretty much only comfortable carrying in a pouch. I think that is its main negative feature these days of lighter knives. I used a Schrade 250T for years (USA version) as my all around hunting and woods knife. It is a two blade version and heavy also. But I really like it. Bought a replacement new one (also USA version) last year at a knife show for nostalgia reasons mostly as I carry other knives now. I was never a big Buck 110 fan although I own two (one regular and one damascus).

I just bought a Condor Two River Skinner (4" fixed blade) yesterday as it just reached out and grabbed me at the store. It's 420HC stainless and should make a great hunting knife at around $40 if it holds an edge reasonably well. I would carry a folder also.

While different from the 110, another good hunting knife is the Ka-bar Dozier Folding Hunter. I have the Mini version and it just disappears in the pocket. Very lightweight.

The most comparable light knife in Bucks line would be the Bucklite Max Large folding knife. The Medium Bucklite Max is comparable to the 112.

I too wish Buck would bring back the Ecolite series.

I highly recommend the Bucklite max.
Been carrying a medium around for about 2 months now and it seems weightless in the pocket.

I have tried several options and would even switch knives while processing to see what worked best. I found the Kershaw antelope hunter performs great. Better than more expensive options. The dozier is a great folder for hunting. Get it in zombie green or blaze orange. Very easy to find.

I appreciate the reply,,but I don`t want a fixed blade,,want compactness.

Heck, an Opinel will work fine for a hunting knife if light weight is a major concern.

I just received a very generous gaw of a Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter. For a sturdy folding field knife, it's well worth checking out. Solid lock, great grip ergos, and cts-xhp blade steel. Pretty impressive.

My vote would be for the #486 Bucklite Max. Here are some comparison shots of it and the #110 Folding Hunter.
