Hunting knife?

Hi KY...
Here's a pic of mine.
119BP, 105BP, & 102BR
I will say that you probably like yours as much as I do mine

Nice trio you have there Goose!

I think the 105 would be a good size for deer, turkey, pheasant. I love my 110 though! Looking around at all the custom knives lately got me to thinking of getting a custom buck. Stag is very nice, but I hear it is slippery when wet. I have not used stag handled knives personally though to speak on it.

I have not used my stag 110 AG in the field yet that I got for Christmas. But I have used it in the kitchen to cut several roast and pork loins and etc. I havent had a problem with it slipping. I've actually heard the opposite with stag, that it is grippy. I dont think it would slip anymore than wood.

Since I'm talking about it I will have to post another picture. This is my baby.

If you have big hands you may not like it much. I know that I am more comfortable with a Pathfinder. It fills my hand better.

What do you guys think of the woodsman for my purposes??

I like the woodsman... have owned several. It's fine for the game you mentioned earlier in this thread. However, if you plan on carrying a 110, I'd go with a 105 or a 118 as someone else mentioned. One other advantage of a fixed blade, it is easier to clean after you are done cleaning your game.

I knew the blades of a 110 and 102 would be close in size... as they say a pic is worth a 1000 words ;)

I like the woodsman alot also. Although it is smaller, it just feels like it is very controllable. You really can't go wrong with either the pathfinder or the woodsman. Plus depends if you use your knife for multiple purposes too. For example, fishing, camp chores etc. I may lean towards a pathfinder for the camp, chopping stuff as opposed to the woodsman though.

I don't know what chopping entails, but none of the smaller 100 series fixed blades are going to be any good for that. You will tear them up.

Stick with the 119, 120, 124, 650, 639 if you are doing heavy camp duties, like gathering firewood. and them a hatchet is the right knife for that job.

Its hard to have just one knife for a camp.

That is a very good question... I no longer have my old 102's. I will say, that the older 440c even though it was a LOT harder to sharpen held an edge longer than the modern hc440. However, touching up an edge on the newer steel takes me a lot less time. So it's kind of a toss up, sort of a tastes great less filling thing. ;)

well guys just got back from the store with a 119. Got it for $30. So far I LOVE it can't wait to use it!

You got a 119 for 30 dollars???? What store???? It (IMHO) is the best of choices for all-around use and you got it for $30!!! Nice.

I was in a Wally World yesterday and noted the yellow boxed 119's were closeout priced $30, while the blister-packed 119's were 'regular priced' at $34.68. I guess they can drop the Sporting section sales person by just putting product on display hooks instead of in display cases. Finding decent help has gotten difficult, I am sure.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I got it from dick's sporting goods. They are usually priced at 50 bucks [ hee hee] but I had 2 $10 off coupons!
