Hunting Sidearm

BB. Thats a beautiful Kimber. What are the grips?

Thanks dttomcat. They're made from a wooly mammoth's tooth.

Here's a different set. They each look a bit different.

Those are great looking grips!! Where I hunt the rattle snakes outnumber the white tail:mad: so I carry a 22 mag loaded with snake shot.

I always carry my Glock model 22 40 caliber with 15 rounds of blackhills 180 grain hollowpoints. We have black bears, wolves and cougars up here. I carry more for the two legged critters. In my proffession I deal with some of the worst people on earth.I have had a lot of them make threats about friends on the outside. I never go anywhere un prepared.

While I enjoy some others, I find I carry my Ruger Bearcat the most.
It has taken countless critters on hunts & hikes alike.

I carry a Glock G20 as my hunting side arm. Double Tap 200 grain Wide Flat Nose gas checked bullets. Serpa blackhawk holster.

When hunting deer, hogs or small game, I always have a revolver with me. Most of the time it's a Ruger or S&W 25 in .45 Colt.

Rest of the time it will be a Ruger or S&W in .44 Mag.

I always wear the revolver in an across the chest holster. With that, the revolver is easy to access, and it keeps it out of the dang water when I am wading through a swamp. :D

The 44 Mag is as large as I need to go. It does not matter what brand it is to me, as Long as it says Ruger on it. The Ruger is a stronger gun even though not as refined from the Box as the average Smith. Tweak the trigger though and never worry about hurting it with even the heavies loads, the same is just not true with any other revolver except the old Dan Wesson'.

I carry a 45 ACP for human vermin. Ruger, Colt or tailer made, any one of those will do.

S&W GP100 .357, PARA P14 .45 ACP, or a XD 9mm sub compact, out of the three, it's whatever I feel like carrying for the day, most of the time it's the 9mm....

Whenever in the field, I always have my Ruger gp100. Right now the first two shots are snake shot and then four 200gr hard cast handloads. I may get some 180gr someday.

Right now its either a Smith 629 44mag or a Glock 21 SF
21 is my duty gun so im comfortable with it

next woods gun will be a G20

these are for protection vs pigs/ bear / people..

i love my 629 but i have been carrying the 21 ALOT lately..

My dad was a Houston police officer and bought two Model 29 44 mag, nickel plated 6" Dirty Harry sepcials in 1975 or '76, one of which he carried as his sidearm from 1975 to his passing in 1996 (still active on the force).

I have them now and proudly lug the beast along whenever in the bush hunting deer, wild boar or squirrels more for the heck of it than actually needing it.
I'll try and post a pic of the custom HPD badge butt plate, it looks cool.

my preffered hunting weapon is a Fred Bear, 70lb compound bow with single-bevelled twin blade fixed broadhead tipped arrows.

my preffered hunting sidearm is a Fallkniven S1.

i don't need no stinkin boomstick!

Sig P220 or 4" S&W 686+ for me. The 686 is crazy heavy, but it is reassuring. That thing shoots like a laser beam.

I carry an HK USP Tactical chambered in .45 whenever in the woods hunting or not, the woods here are thick we have a very serious venomous snake problem, pig problem in many areas, bears are also making a huge comeback and lets not leave out the occasionally cougar or mountain lion whichever you want to call it.

I had a big cougar come into my opening day of muzzle loader setup about 4 years ago and put the smack down on one of two yearlings that was with a big doe at about 20 yards. HOLY, @#$#$@#, I had to walk out of the palmettos and briars that were chest high with only a one shot muzzle loader. Never went back without a pistol, EVER and won't that cat could roll a grown man with no problem after I saw it just destroy that yearling and it weighed a good 80lbs and that cat just utterly annihilated that thing, it was awesome and incredibly scary at the same time. If one hit you from behind or from the side in thick brush the only chance you would have it with a pistol and that is if the thing doesn't hit you so hard it doesn't knock you out.

One of the most disturbing things was through the thickest woods the thing didn't make a sound. I watched it sneak from about 5 yards away from the deer after I spotted in through a hole in the palmettos I was watching, NOT A SOUND, those deer who are pretty alert creatures never knew it was there.

This is a S&W model 34 (22 long rifle) that I've worn on many Elk hunts. I've potted lots of Grouse with it (Spruce and Blues). The Blue Grouse are especially tasty. I've also used it for signaling.

most of my hunting is with a bow and if feel that i need a sidearm only bc of yotes, dogs or whatever i just take my Glock 19. most times i dont carry a sidearm. just a good knife and a bright flashlight. i walk in the dark as much as possible and if i use a light its red.

now when i am bear hunting thats a different story. i bear hunt witha .35 remmy or 12 gauge semi auto. ill carry my g19 for that as well. hardball ammo.
