Brought this Husky Traditional Multipurpose home today, after wanting one for quite some time.

Head: 1.9 lbs
Handle: 26"

A couple minutes with the puck and it took a wicked edge. A few coats of linseed and the hickory took on a nice warm color.

Simple, functional oiled sheath:

Some don't care for it, but I really like the rougher finish of Huskies:

The grain orientation is nothing to sniff at:

I think this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship...

I got one recently as well. Great size for my body.

Seems to be good quality/fit and finish for the price, as it only takes a few minutes to touch up the edge, sand and/or put the first coat of linseed on the handle. The alignment and balance is pretty solid.

These are being made by Hultafors. Wish we could get more of their stuff imported here.
Nice axe, enjoy it!

Got out and did a little work with it this afternoon. It split a bunch of Doug Fir and Lodgepole like butter.

Perfectly proportioned "3/4" axe (for me, anyway) from the palm to the pit:

So far, I'm really impressed. Light enough to pack and carry, but stout enough for real work. Easy to put a fresh, razor edge on, and I really like the profile. Honestly, I feel like I got more than I paid for.

One correction I should mention - I believe this is now referred to as the "Forest Axe," and no longer the "Multipurpose."

That is a good axe. I had one and really liked it but did sell it after I acquired another axe that just outperformed it in every way. The steel on this axe was great though. I went to town on a 12" wide dead pine that was very hard and the edge held up perfect. Should be a great user for you. Enjoy

I like it. And for the money, they are unbeatable.

It's a damn shame my initial Wetterlings purchase wasn't anywhere near as pleasant as your Husky purchase was.
I say you have the better axe at about $15. less than what I paid for mine. Good for you bud. ;)

Thanks! You must have bought your Wetterlings before the prices went up! Looks like their Forest axe is usually well over $100 these days.

I got a Fine Forester's Axe (similar in size & scope to your Husky). Now I see why it was so cheap...they seem defective. Buyer beware.
The going rate was actually higher than the Forest Axe. But in the end, all the aggravation and disappointment I've been through wasn't
worth it for me. I would've been happy to have paid full price for a Fine Forester's Axe in the same condition as your Husky SH.

From now on, I will never order an axe through the mail unless it's from someone I can trust to treat me like a friend and pick out a safe axe
for me. When I can, I'll handpick my own axes. Lesson learned the hard way.

:)

Agreed, and I've learned the same lesson the hard way. I could have saved a couple bucks by buying this axe online, but it was worth it to me to order it through a local supplier, and be able to inspect it before putting cash on the barrelhead. And it helps support local small business...

Council Tool FSS boy's axe. It's heavier but the more work it did was clearly worth the extra half pound in weight. For me anyways

Coincidentally, I ordered the same exact Council (FSS) while waiting for my Wetterlings return.

I've heard nothing but good things about that axe. Did you do a review of the two a while back?
