another nod to Spyderco.. they know how to produce high end affordable blades which are very unique.

Benchmade in second because I really do love their fit and finish, but their prices are just inflated for my tax bracket.

Holy heck! I post a thread, pop out for a couple days, then, upon my return, find seven pages of responses! Not bad - thanks for the ready replies.

I like Kai as an option. It hadn't occurred to me, but AG Russel would technically count for my question - it's a single brand name, after all. I wouldn't at all mind sticking with AG's knives, if I couldn't get Cold Steel or Kai.
