Sometimes, it's the little things that count. Like when switching your entire website over to another webhosting service, remember to change the contact/email page target address to the new account.:o:thumbdn:

Since December, every individual who has tried to contact me via my website was lost in limbo....:grumpy:.... Here, I just thought nobody loved me.:( I had 174 emails sitting in this abandoned account. So far I count 62 potential orders (if they aren't totally put off).

I rushed to get this site up in time for the Blade Magazine March/April issues I was featured in (which hit news stands in January).

Apology emails have been issued... now I just have to wait and see...

Would you contact the maker after receiving this 5 months after the fact?

My appologies, the contact email feature was supposed to be redirected to
another working address of mine... apparently, I messed something up in
the preferences. This dates back from December (when I switched webhosting
services) so I have a lot of catching up to do! Ooops. If you are
receiving this message and are still interested in pursuing your
inquiry/order/comment please respond to this email.

Again, I am sorry for any inconvenience... I feel quite embarassed about
the whole thing.

Rick

Bummer situation. I think your response is just fine. It sounds like you expect some people to be put off by the "cold shoulder" they accidentally received. That seems realistic, but I'm sure that there will be plenty of people who will understand and will still want their inquires pursued.

why post the obvious :D

must be great to find a big backlog and a reason....

You are on my shortlist. ;)

Rick, It's all good amigo! Anyone can make a mistake and everyone does. Yours was completely innocent.

I don't think I will be alone when I say that there is NO WAY I would let what happened here slow me down from getting a knife from you if I had an order in already.

And to anyone who does have an order in with Rick, I would say keep after it and be patient. His knives are outstanding and you won't be sorry. I love mine!!!

Nah. Just go hammer some steel. You'll feel better. :)

Sounds like you're handling it in the right way.

Don't worry about it -- I'm sure most people will just be glad to hear back from you and to know why their inquiries hadn't been answered. I can't speak for everyone, but what I care about is a maker's ability to craft sharp things out of steel, not his IT skills. :p

Good post Rick. Smart to address this.

Hey, I have about 1700 emails from my website that aren't looking to have any photo work done; something about making me 'larger', Canadian pills, long lost relatives with millions, and other unrelated subjects. Shall I forward them? ;)

Seriously, I hope you recapture a large proportion of those messages.

Coop

Unfortunately, Coop... there was no SPAM in this account. It is not an address that is associated to my site other than that particular "email me" button. These were all legit inquiries.

I have received over 15 replies so far and all were good news....

So.... about those pills.........

I don't know ... I'm pretty demanding.:grumpy:

Honestly, wouldn't bother me much. But I've still got some patience left.

Stuff happens. You will recover!;) You're a custom knifemaker ... and anyone who seriously covets your work will simply take this in stride.

I think the longest I've waited, so far is ... oh, about 38 months and counting.

Here I was, thinking you're one arrogant bastard that doesn't care 'bout e-mail inquiries, and than you post this and spoil it....
Honestly Rick, your knives are too darn good looking and I can't be pissed at you even if I wanted to.
Glad to hear things with your e-mail got sorted out though.
Gotta' make some decisions, but you'll def. get a reply from me too.

You should of just told everyone that you are sorry for the long wait, but you have been responding to emails in the order they were recieved..

So yes, you are an idiot!

:p

I think it says something good about your character that you said, "It's my fault" instead of blaming the hosting service, the Interwebs or gremlins. I like a guy who can man up and said he made a mistake.

You think you're an idiot. Check this out. The comment at the end is funny.

BTW, I just checked out your website. Cool stuff.

I just saw the write up the other day and thought... hey... I've seen that name before...

So...this explains the no response to all the emails....:p

This thought may be a reoccurring one, but he's still a great guy that makes awesome knives :D

Nothing that can't get settled over a few of these....
