According to Spark, Bladeforums.com has been open to the public for 10 years now. It started on October 2, 1998. I joined the following year. I now have grey hair, bald spot, sagging chest, flat feet, 30% loss of hearing and hair growing from my ears since I started here.

Many makers have come and gone and I rocognize nearly every name in the knife magazines and annual. Several of the newbies are now journeyman or mastersmiths. What a wonderful bunch of knifenuts you guys are!

Must have been a little bitty forum then! It is great to have you on the forums, Bruce, If everybody here was like me, the forum would be called "shoptalk- questions and ______" :D

You've got me by 1 day... O - N - E FRIGGING DAY BRUCE BUMP!!!!!!! *shaking fist in the air*

;)

Pretty crazy eh? lol :)

I think I may have hit puberty in that time. :p

Probably got some time before I'm an old timer though :D

I'm not 100% sure if the forum used to be better, or I just look at it differently now... but I find myself "missing the old days" around here :)

Of course I still like dropping by :)

This seems an appropriate place:

Thank you Bruce, Nick, Stacy, and all of the rest of the long experienced masters, both ABS and otherwise, for being willing to continue to share your hard earned wisdom, experience, and expertise with the rest of us. It is because of people like you that new guys like me are able to learn this incredible craft, and we owe you all a debt of gratitude.

Sagging chest? Oh man, I hadn't even heard of that one before.

yup I'm with him ^ no sagging man-boobies for me  Really I'm indebted to all you ya'll who have came before me and are willing to show me the ropes of this craft. thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you,!

I'll sure second Dan's comments. If it weren't for the openness and sharing here, I'd still be floundering around making the same semi-good knives but working twice as hard! And I would not have had the courage and resolve to do as much testing as I have. I'm deeply thankful for all the help I've gotten from everyone. And Keith, many gems of wisdom have come from relative newbies too! Some questions have opened my eyes more than you can imagine.

I've been around a while too; that's kinda freaky! I too miss some of the makers who no longer visit this forum. Possibly our "first time" sticks with us as the "best of times." ;) Whatever, I'm sure thankful for everyone who's here today.

As for the sagging chest and tufts of gnarly hair growing out of my ears - I had that when I came here. :D

If it weren't for Bladeforums, I wouldn't be a poor-ass full-time maker. :D

Bald spot. You have just as much as you did when you started. Its just in different places. Sort of a under ground come out some where esle type of thing. At least thats what I tell everyone.

Women call it a "sagging chest".

Men call it the "chest-of-drawers" syndrome. It happens when your chest moves down into your drawers.:)

I have had it for some time now, and I also have more hair growing out of my ears and nose than I ever had on my bald head.

Robert

Don't know how much my chest is sagging, Just believe my gut sticking
further out makes it look that way.

I don't want to hear any of you complaining about baldness. I went bald when I was still in High School for cryin' out loud! Yep, 16 years old, and shiny chrome dome!

The sagging chest thing, though....

DAMN!

I don't want to get old

We're all older, Burce.........but you are real old ;) :D

I didn't even have a computer back in 98/99...ha ha ha

yep your old, two days older than Arizona, but In all seriousness you have been a blessing to the new guys like me thank you, and I'm not but 23 and I'm balding badly
