i know we all like pics, and i know that a lot folks here post pics of their gear pretty regularly, but i just got a new daypack and i was wondering what you all carry....:)
some folks carry a lot of gear on a typical dayhike and some folks prefer a more simple approach, with minimal gear..

daypack set ups, PSK's or BOB's.. any pics will do please...:D

cheers... mike

oh yeah, i scored a new CAMELBAK rim runner.. it's a cool little pack.. very comfortable..i think it's about 1600 cu. in.... i got it to replace my old CAMELBAK peak bagger, that i had for years... some damn rats chewed a big hole through the bottom..

I've been keeping it simple lately
Poncho
usgi canteen
FAK
cord
Opinel folding saw
vic farmer
and a stockman folder

I've also started edcing a kit of sorts in an altoid tin...I don't know if you'd call it a survival kit really, so much as a handy kit...just useful items. that can be used to cover alot of bases...saftey pins, crazy glue, needle and thread, bandaids to name a few...

I have an oooold rim runner I used a lot while guiding. Only things I ever carried in it was water, first aid kit and snacks for guests. So I'd have 3 liters for myself plus about 8 bottles for the goobs. I'd bring a leatherman for removing cholla spines as well as the 2 way radio. I used the crap out of that pack....I wonder where it is.

the new ones are pretty slick... i can also use it on extended mtn. bike rides too... http://www.rei.com/product/767540?c... CamelBak Rim Runner Hydration Pack 100 oz

AMK first aid kit,
100' paracord
poncho
Leatherman
Compass
mini maglight
lighter
small tin of vaseline cotton balls
water

Fixedblade and SAK are on my person

I carry a pretty mundane set of gear a few odds and ends just pieced together, some of what's in the picture isn't even there anymore or is replaced by something else. This'll give ya a pretty general idea though of my "possibles bag".

daypack? I knife some water bottles a bandana and a raincoat, lighter and match box. I think that's it.

PS. How does everybody keep their packs and gear so CLEAN!????? All my stuff always looks scratched up and muddy compared to pics like the above.

for my last little dayhike, i brought this along:
DSCN6439.jpg

water, poncho, mosquito headnet, lunch and chopsticks.

but on my person i also have
pants-EDC folder (stockman), mora #1, superglue, lighter, 12" paracord, chapstick.
jacket-cloth medical tape, field sharpening gear, spare beater paring knife, 4B pencil, 10 feet paracord, matchsafe.

for me, the biggest deal is water because it can be difficult to obtain while "out there" and when you can get at it, it's inconvenient to clean and bottle. i do need to pick up some cleaning tabs at some point...

otherwise, my dayhike gear is almost the same as my EDC gear.

How you likin your EOD bag? I love mine, they are super well made forthe incredable price tag.

The staples of my pack are:

pelican case PSK
first aid kit
naglene w/ cup

I add some things according to how far im goin and how long im stayin out, but these items are the staples.

I'm using a different bag right now and have switched a couple of things out (a different blade, etc), but the gear is largely similar.

Here is my dayhiker. Sometimes I put it in a mountainsmith daypack for longer hikes. Depends on my purpose. If I am going on a leasurely plant id-ing hike, I will take the one pictured.

Sorry Mike, no pics. However, this is what's in the Kelty Travelers shoulder bag that I use for day hikes.

USGI poncho
2.5 x 7 treated tarp (footprint for tent)
Lite jacket
Mora 711
AM Heat sheet single
AM PSK - modified
AM Pocket Medic - modified
15' parachute shroud line
55gal. drum liner
Leatherman tool
Esbit stove & fuel
hot cocoa & coffee singles
1watt LED light w/spare AA battery
small candle
SS cup
Kleen Kanteen (SS 40oz)
chopsticks
Lately because of problems with violence in some areas, I added a .380acp w/2 mags (14 + 1 rounds)

barberfobic, if i understand correctly, i think that's a standard USGI canteen with the canteen cup. as far as i know, you can get them at a surplus shop in person or online...

I love it. Like ya said, good construction for the price. Tough and rugged, holds a surprising amount of kit for it's size, and the wide strap makes for comfortable carry. It started out as just a daypack, but as I realized how much I could put in there, it became my general purpose bag for anything shorter than a 3 day trip.

You are right. It holds alot of gear, and the inside pockets are well thought out. I am gonna order a couple more of these for sure! Mine was a dayhike bag for a bit, now it is my jump bag in my truck w/ my EMS stuff.
