I just got hired as a Traveling Surgical Technologist at Wat-Su Regional Hospital in Wasila, AK.!! I am soooooo excited!!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D Excited doesn't even quite begin to cover it!! This is a dream come true for me!! I have wanted to see Alaska since I was 4 years old. I had a health issue that had me out of commission for 17 months, and that got me thinking!! Life is waaaaaay too short!! There are some places in this Country that I WANT/NEED to see. My being a Surgical Technologist affords me the opportunity to travel and see the Country! My spouse IS 100% supportive of me doing this, even though it means that I am going to be away from home for a minimum of 9 months!! I had AAA expedite my Trip-Tik, so it will be ready Tues. I do not know yet when I will be leaving. I will keep you guys posted!! Thanks for listening!! I wish you all peace inside of you, and outside of you.

I drove through Wasilla last year. That is a nice location. You are close to the ocean, the rivers, lakes, mountains and yet close enough to shop in Anchorage. It is a relatively warm location. You'll see mosquitoes, but otherwise it is a very nice place. I just love the mountain views. Plan on doing some fishing.

I'm excited for you, too!

Alaska is a wonderful place ... just be careful on that long drive.

See if you can look up the unique KAAK (KnifeAddictAK) while you're up there. He's a rather unusual Forumite, but an extremely trustworthy guy. With luck, he could show you around the big country.

You should be able to PM or e-mail KAAK through the Forum.

Best of luck -- and waiting for pics!! :D

I lived on Kodiak for 3 or 4 years, I have to say it was amazing but I pretty much had my fill by that time. The old saying is "I'm an Alaskan Sourdough. Sour on Alaska and not enough dough to leave". :D

Anyway enjoy your new home!

You Lucky Dog, Have a Great Trip.

Now fess up, you have been watching the price of Gold and you are going there to do some Panning.:D

Have a Safe Trip.

Hey, TKC, I'm glad for you to have this opportunity, and glad that your family is giving you such support. Are you taking a dog?

Stay healthy, and stay in touch!

After everything that you've been through, you deserve to have some of your dreams come true. Go get em girl.

This is great news TKC. Have fun. And I'm happy you have a supportive partner, that'll make this dream of yours much better.

Live it to the full and keep in touch!

I would like to welcome you to our incredible state. It takes a life time to explore it. I hitch=hiked to Alaska in 1971 when I was 17 and decided to make it my home. The next summer a friend and I thumbed up here and spent the summer working on a dairy farm near Wasilla. The Valley is home to some very interesting people .
Check out Northern Knives in Anchorage. Knifeaddict used to work there , I think he works at a gun shop now. Dog mushing season is just around the corner and Wasilla is headquarters for the Iditarod.
I hope your experience here will be a positive one.
Chuck

Color me jealous.

Enjoy and take care up there. I am thrilled for you and hope the adventure is everything your are hoping for + a lot more!
