I am going to Alaska!!!

Don't be in a big hurry .I see it got below zero in Anchorage last night. It was -38 most of the day here in Fairbanks. It has warmed up to -18 tonight.
After Saturday we will start gaining daylight before you know it we will slip into one of our beautiful summers.

Thanks!! I am just so happy that Kirby is OK!! That is the best Christmas present ever!! I should be getting my truck back today. Kirby and I will get back on the road tomorrow am.

I am currently in Grand Haven, MI. visiting friends on the way.

The soft tonneau cover blew off during my travels, and we are working on a solution. I am here in Michigan in the mean time.

There will be a solution.

Meanwhile, a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to you, dear. Enjoy the Season with your friends. That's the best present of all.

Wishing you all the best on your adventure from warm, wet Virginia.

Kirby and I are totally enjoying being with our friends!!

God takes good care of me, and I have a lot of faith, so I KNOW that there will be a solution to the tonneau issue. I am NOT worried about that at all.

Merry Christmas to you to Old Physics!!! God bless!

I have arrived safe and sound in Alaska!! Kirby and I are getting settled in our new place. We took a little walk earlier today. The cabin IS beautiful.

Kirby has recovered from his surgery as well.

Hope you're having a great time there, TKC!

TK, are you alright???
Scared the crap out of me when I heard about a plane crash in Alaska with 6 fatalities!

Great read through here T.K.C.. I just now saw this, and read through it all.

I felt like I stowed away on the trip with you as the Good, Bad, and the Ugly all happened to you on this trip.. However, it is very sweet indeed to have read how you endured with your good friend Kirby, your faith in God and overcame the odds with inner strength and many blessings.

We have crossed paths over in the knife makers for sale forums now and then, as well as other areas on bf, as I have read and admired your posts regarding some of the beautiful custom knives, ect for the last several years here and there.. But I really did not know you and never chatted with you as I recall, however, reading this makes me feel a sort of spirited kinship of sorts since I have always aspired to live in Alaska. I have several friends their and they are forever razz'n me to make the break from the lower 48. And now to make matters more pressing, my teenage daughter wants to move their as well.. Chip off the ole block I recon:rolleyes:

Anyway, I guess I said all that to say, the Best of Gods blessings and Good fortune to you and Kirby in Alaska for 2008 from us down here about as far south in the US as you can be..

PS ><> Would you please post some pictures of Kirby and the wonderful scenery their while in your travels when you have a couple of minutes?.

Best,
Anthony

TKC, I'm glad that you and Kirby are doing well.

How is your health, if you don't mind my asking?

Feel free to reply by PM...

My health is well. I had some issues with altitude, giving me my nasty headache. Other than that, I am well.

Compared to the Cape, I'm not surprised that any altitude at all gave you a little trouble. :D
I'm glad to hear that you are well.

I would like to welcome you to our incredible state. It takes a life time to explore it. I hitch=hiked to Alaska in 1971 when I was 17 and decided to make it my home. The next summer a friend and I thumbed up here and spent the summer working on a dairy farm near Wasilla. The Valley is home to some very interesting people .
Check out Northern Knives in Anchorage. Knifeaddict used to work there , I think he works at a gun shop now. Dog mushing season is just around the corner and Wasilla is headquarters for the Iditarod.
I hope your experience here will be a positive one.
Chuck

I spent the summer of 2003 working on a new building out in the dairy farm country close to Wasilla. It was over close to the bay. I forget the name but you could go on up that road and get to the Little Su.
