I Blame Emojis For The Impending Death Of Conversation! . . .

Where do you draw the line. Is it ok to do with pappy 12? Weller 12 or full proof?
Pouring anything other than a "little" water or "ilittle" ice in a whisky is for those that lack the ability to taste good whisky. And thats fine if its their bottle. Or they are at a bar. Filling a glass with ice and pouring a 100 proof or less whisky in it is just like drinking coors
Hard to say, true. I kind of feel like once you start getting over ~$50-60/bottle (current market price), it’s a waste to use as a mixer. You’ll lose a lot of the nuances that make it a good whiskey, and you may as well use something cheaper. Just this asshole’s worthless opinion lmao.

Hard for me to break away from Knob Creek and Pepsi. And you guys showed me about cigar smoking...so now I dabble in that realm a tad.

I'm with you brother!

At a certain point, a couple of shots of hand sanitizer will do!!!😂

Some of these responses remind me of a long weekend on 20,000 acres of the King Ranch. They only had Don Julio 1942 for tequila and that’s what they made our Ranch Waters with all weekend. My pockets we not as deep as theirs. But I do remember waking up with wads of $100 bills from betting and playing Shut The Box. 🤣

If you know what your doing, you can get great whiskies for $50 and under.
I am familiar with a few, please feel free to share your picks here, or privately. I promise not to shop in your AO.

Nice, I have frequented several of these bottles (Bold) and will look into some of the others.

Thank you.

The Bardstown BIB is one I’d definitely add here. My current fave bourbon under $50.

As for ryes, pikesvillr 110 is 50 buks and I love it
Basil Hayden dark rye is dangerously good, ~$30 (taste is unlike most rye bourbons though). Their Malted rye is also excellent.
Also, Rittenhouse.

ETA - Cobalt Cobalt an extra-smoky local one I’ve been enjoying lately is the Hogback Oak & Aspen. Can be found in the ballpark of $50.

I haven't tried the Bardstown, the BH Dark Rye is different but good! I keep a bottle of Rittenhouse on hand for Rye Manhattans, great bang for the buck!

Crazy to think the Rittenhouse used to be only around $20/bottle before the Whiskey madness of the past 5 years.

Havent had that one. I do hsve most of the bouldet distillery stuff. They do a great job

But to the basil hayden dark rye. Its been blended with port wine. So not a true whisky, imo. But I do like it. I just put it in the flavored cstegory.

Wow. Somehow I missed the Port Wine thing. 🤦🏻‍♂️ No wonder it tastes like it does! Holy crap I feel dumb now lol…

Have you tried the Angel's Envy Finished Rye? $98 and fantastic, finished in Caribbean Rum casks.

I have. I use to like it, but there's a funk that eventually pushed me away. But its not bad. Thought sbout making manhatans out of it

Hard to beat Laphroaig 10 at $41. Machir Bay by Kilchoman was my flat out favorite sub $50 at 39.99, untill about a year and a half ago now dang thing is 60ish.

A bit of a life hack, but total whine is sometimes next to Costco, if that's the case than that costco and that total whine will have the lowest prices in your neighborhood within their respective chains.

Wee bestie....makes Ardbeg 10 at just $10 more a much better buy.
