I bought a HT oven in eBay, good deal or...?

I will try the salt and brass melting test to judge the temp in the oven and if these work I will leave it be as it is.

Yes, you can always add a digital control system later at any time. The analog arrows are super cool, it could be worth it just to enjoy as-is for a while! Perhaps once a good thermocouple sensor is added you'll be able to tell what's happening well enough.

Of course , you put hose on them and when time for quench come let the water run :p
HT oven are used for many things not just for HT steel .Seems they are two holes in line so they have some purpose for other task ...I would close rear one with ceramic wool and install somehow some glass on front one ...be able to observe what's going on inside is a good thing .

Thanks, I guess it will get faster to temp once it's closed.

Buy one and tell us is it good or not :p

I did, the cheapest I found on Amazon :)

Thanks, well, it seems like it's precise enough. When I opened for magnet test, the temp dropped and the arrow went a bit (10-20°C) down and the temp light went on and the oven started adding heat. I think I will try HT some carbon steel and then ramp to see if it really reaches 1100°C.

For foil packs you grab the foil, and the 90 degree pliers will be fine. The ones I linked to are perfect for it.

Got it, I got a 280mm one from Amazon.

You need to make some holder for holding knife inside , I hope you don t plan to lay them on floor :D the farther from the floor is better ....It s good oven but plate where HT elements are is from different material then bricks ,they store temperature /which is good / more then bricks and they have a higher temperature then what measure TC in air .............

Of course, I just got some some stainless steel rests to make holders. They are folded like this. I planned on cutting sliths in it like this. Excuse my ugly sketch :)
