I bought a TiLock

Ah, so you paid $475 for a box with loctite, grease, and an allen wrench in it....and all that came was a box and a lousy perfectly built knife.

Shucks.

(And "most" new CRKs do not come with 3 "items". None of the Sebenza 21s come with loctite, so all of them come with an empty spot for it in the box. Darn.)

Sophomoric logic.

Bearcut - did you ever say what custom you got? Post a picture or start a thread so we can see it. Such a tease...

Now I am really upset!! I just added a Ti-Lock Production Prototype to my collection and I didn’t get anything extra either!! Just a fine knife, a little card telling me what the knife was. when it was made and a blue fiber cloth... Oh yea a little piece of paper telling me that the knife was sharp!! No foam with cutouts or anything!! I think I may send it back as well.. or maybe not.:D
All the best, Dave

Every other brand of knife I own did not come with the three items that most CRK's come with.

Ummmm.....not sure. Seems like you knew what to expect, which further bewilders me. The three items that "Most" (read not all) crk's come with.....your words, not mine. This is a bizarre thread for sure. Anyways, if I buy I Ti-Lock I am now very well informed of the travesty of justice being purveyed upon these unsuspecting CRK fan-boys.

That really sucks Zaan Man, I tell you what... I'll give you the current going price of a brand new Ti-Lock and you send me that old thing in the plain white box with no special cutout, tools, grease, or lock tight. You have my address. ;)

No Loctite!?
No allen wrench!?
Your whole year may be ruined.

CRK should send you a micro fiber cloth to dry your eyes.

Mr. Bearcut. . . I am not sure why everyone is coming down so hard on you for this thread. In general, the CRK forum is a place where we can openly express our opinions without fear of having stones cast at us. Yes, there are those threads that deserve stones (steel hardness complaints, Strider vs. CRK, Is a Seb REALLY worth it, et al); however, I see the merits in your complaints and understand where you are coming from. You are not whining about the lack of tools/lube/Loctite, but expressing concerns over WHY you did not receive them. Esav said it succinctly in regards to "high costs = high expectations."

It may be best to shut this thread down--it is going nowhere. Please don't consider the attitude in this thread as the general demeanor of the CRK forum.

As always MMAR, your comments are spot on. I for one sincerely apologize if my response was in anyway offensive are harsh. That was not my intention. Just trying to bring a little humor into the conversation. So please accept my sincere apology.
All the best, Dave

Exactly.

Thank you.

I see no need to shut the thread down though. My intention was to inform prospective TL buyers of what to expect and, hopefully, entice CRK to be more forthcoming in their description of the knife. i.e. "this folder is not user serviceable"

If it gets shut down it will get relegated to the dustbin and very few will be able to have the information I tried to convey initially.

If some want to continue avoid the issue and make excuses, well, I can't stop them from tarnishing the CRK forum.

Same here bearcut I was just trying to lighten the thread up a bit. Hope there are no hard feelings, you as well as everyone else is entitled to their own opinion and we shouldn't make it personal. But then again if mikepapa1 was unhappy with his purchase I would be more than happy to make it right. Whoops... Sorry, couldn't resist.

All the best to you bearcut!

That's what I love about this forum,,, peace and harmony... different points of view being tolerantly read and expressed,,,, I appreciate the perspectives, even though I may not agree with them... Keep 'em comming! Bart

Same here...no hard feelings, but I think there is a little "two-to-tango" going on here if we look at this thread honestly. I think what is at issue here, is that some people, myself included, feel your are tarnishing the reputation of a great company, based on an unreasonable expectation. At the same time others feel your reputation is being tarnished based on what is your rightful opinion of being short-changed. So essentially it all descends into nothing useful other than getting the word out not to expect an allen key, Loctite, or lube with your Ti-Lock. I guess I understand better what miffed you, and appreciate you getting that word out. At the same time I don't feel the complaint is something that would affect me in the same way, but that is just my personal opinion.

I thought we all bought stainless knives to avoid all this tarnishing anyways! :) .......what in tarnation was this all about? :D

I just bought a new Ti-Lock and the box contained the following items in addition to the knife (which was made in July, 2013):

tube of grease

small wrench

blue cloth, embossed with Chris Reeve logo, etc

small oval-shaped Chris Reeve decal

assorted instructions and documents from Chris Reeve, including a signed "birth certificate"

I hope this information is helpful. I really love my new Ti-Lock - it's unlike any other knife I've handled or seen. It's quite different to handle and use, in ways that are hard to describe.

This.

Hee, hee. ;)

Well now that's it's out there again, it might as well have a happy ending. They now ship everything this guy was missing, and when mine could not be disassembled, due to a faulty part ,they fixed it and shipped it for free within two weeks of sending it to them.

Don't hesitate to buy this one. The handle is my favorite.
