I Broke My Knife

Won't the graphite clog up the lock?
No, it shouldn't because it's mainly used for lubricating lock mechanisms which tend to end up jamming eventually if you oil them cause the oil gets clogged with dust etc, Graphite powder is very fine.

You could always buy a butcher knife. They can be had for about $1, and make good CQC weapons in my experience. you have to sharpen them up first, though.

This has got to be about the biggest load of ass-chunks I've read here in a long time. "good CQC weapons in my experience"???? WTF! Which mall do you work security at?
You have the definate aroma of a troll that has stained this place before.

That info is classified. read my profile, that will explain my history. While I have used my Ka-bar to great success in hand to hand combat, the butcher knife is a good choice for someone who will soon see combat, yet does not want to spend a lot of money. the cheap price means you can buy multiple knives in case you have to ditch a few when search is eminent. Plus they can be bought by anyone at a dollar store with no age verification.

How much does it cost? and does it absorb liquid, ie water, fuel, blood, etc

Come on guys, give him a chance. Don't you know that the first thing the Special Forces teaches you is that the best weapon is a cheap butcher knife, carried in your pocket without a sheath or anything? This way you can kill your enemies, ditch it without worry of it being traced, and prevent yourself from ever having children all in one fell swoop. :D

Sounds like a good idea in some cases. :D

....I was trying to stay away from this thread as so many people have posted, I thought, MR. Gnome(heh) had recieved the help he needed.

Anyway, hows it Groovy?

How old are you? (if you're under 13 DO NOT RESPOND [ :D to mods])

You might be able to buy from here. IDK who would be willing to sell to someone in your position though. I kind of know how you feel, being underaged myself, not being able to buy knives (from most stores) with out a parent there.
Maybe if you stick around here for a while, read up on as much as you can, you can impress your parents of your knowledge. If they ask you how you know, say research. Also, maybe if you post a lot and earn some repect/decent repuation someone on these forums might sell you something. Apparently that worked for me, I have made a few purchases here already(all legal).

Okay, about the knives themselfs. Try to by tactically (not tac knives), but to "win the game". Buy the largest folder you think your parents may allow. If you can hold onto that for a while, grab a Leatherman/Sak. This shows you are looking for tools and not weapons. When you go from big black folder to little red multi, it looks good. ;)

Oh, last thing. Get one of your parents to back you. Try not shaving for while, let your grades drop(?)(or get them up). Make a deal, do well in school, have her take you to get something. Shave the night before going. Ask her what she thinks is acceptable, have her hold it, and don't forget to ask what your dad will think.

I do that every time. Okay, one more thing. DO NOT GET A JOB(for now). that will just increase the amount you will later spend on knives.

The Ka-bar is, IMO, the best combat weapon. I am currently on a mission in brazil, and I find that the Ka-bar WILL NOT FAIL ME IN THE FIELD OR THE FIGHT. I use it for both of those purposes daily, and all it has needed so far is a touch-up to the edge. It has all the features needed for a good combat blade (blood groove, double guards).
But, it is a slightly harder to obtain weapon. if you need a weapon fast, I would have to agree with the other posters who advised the butcher knife. You can easily obtain them, and make a sheath for them out of cardboard. still it will not rival the Ka-bar as a combat knife.

When I am though with the mission and safe at home, my Ka-bar rests on my nightstand, or under my pillow.

 Sure.

Gnome: talk to your parents (the more reasonable parent - that might be your mother, given the fact that your father has confiscated the knife he gave you  ). Tell her you would like to purchase yourself a solid utility knife in ~$20 range, that yougot money saved for it (you have the money ready, right ?) and just want to know whether she approves of it or not. Moms tend to give in to their sons as they (the sons) grow up once they realize their son is not a little boy anymore. She might refuse, yeah, then think about her points very carefully. When she asks you what youplan to do with the knife make sure you don't give her any of the "killing", "self-defense" etc. crap - 'cause frankly, you won't use that knife for any of those activities. If yu plan to join boy scouts or a similar group that'd be a good reason for you to get yourself a knife as well. Give parents a good reason,do not attempt to extort them or sneak it past them, you'll do more harm than good.

This is REALLY important: check uut the forums for a while longer, this will help you to answer your parents' concerns (show them you're mature enough to handle a knife and not some whacko advocating concealed weapons). It'll also give you some more time to

I also recommend that you don't take underaged!'s advice too literally: by all means do get a [summer] job, it a great way to build up self-esteem, some character (yeah, you'll be the object of few sucker jokes in the course of it but you better do it when you're young and then have plenty of years to come to replay those same pranks on other newbies :D ) and most importantly, to show your parents that you are responsible person. If you make money, say by mowing lawns, they are far less likely to boss you around and telling you what to do with the money you earned. Parents realize that their kids are growing up, some come to terms with it sonner and some do later. Tal;k to the most reasonable (easy to talk to and a person of principles) person in your family - might be your grandpa for example.

And above all, DO NOT let your grades slip. If you were my kid and told me that you got your grades lower deliberately just to spite me because i confiscated a knife from you when you were 12 (i wonder what the whole story was anyway), or because you willonly get them back up if i allow you to buy yourself a knife, i'd make damn sure your grades would get back on track or you'd be kicked out of the house. The only "present" you'd get immediately either way would be a nice slap.

You could just kill you’re parents and use their credit cards to buy knives. just strangle them to death with a power cord. that way there will be no blood. next take all their money and credit cards. then bury their bodies. then order all the knives you want. if the police look for them, just tell them they went on a business trip, and you don’t know what happened to them.
