The 11 year old and I took a try at acorn-o'lanterns. We need a bit more practice - and probably a better suited knife.

Scored some Yuengling tonight from a friend. I had some left from TN but its always good to get more :D

Maine youth day is tomorrow and I am going to be taking Amanda's little brother out for his first ever deer hunting trip. I am packing up now and getting excited.

Wish us luck guys!

Jeremy

Good luck! Hopefully some skill is involved as well......I don't think hunting is really a roll of the dice ;).

I actually meant it to be a compliment of sorts... :D

Rock on, gentlemen

AC, Yes we got situated. We are in our own place, no emergency living with the parents was needed. Got a Job literally THE day I was moving out, and drove to Indiana the next day. Had to sleep on the floor for about two weeks because our belongings were delayed for some stupid reason. The new place is finally starting to look like a place, and I have finally stopped bleeding money out of my savings like an anemic hemopheliac. Next step putting money BACK IN the accounts. Super happy to be settling in though, and to be working again, and making money..lol Also being maybe an hour, hour and a half from Todd and Murphy is pretty cool. I might bother Jerry too.

Good to hear things are working out for you. What kind of job did you end up with?

Got a Fallkniven F1 off of the exchange that just showed up today. I already have one of the blanks with ambonya burl scales on it, but wanted to see what the standard version was like. The sheath is definitely serviceable, but I think I'll have to get a leather or kydex one made for it.

From what a little, yet beer swilling, birdie told me, you're almost just down the street. Welcome to the neighborhood!

AC,
Maintenance Service Manager for Apartments still, just a new company and a new property and state.

Jerry,
Yeah bud, literally straddling the border of Carmel and Westfield.

Awesome acorn-o'lanterns, even better that you made em with the youngun! Next is the creation of the perfect Acorn-o'lantern knife. Need to get the boss in on this.

Gratz, Thorny.....though I cringe at the thought of your beer budget imploding your bank account now that you're gonna be living in such close proximity to all those miscreants, erm....Beckerheads.

got myself one of those EK Bowies.

have to support the parkerized knife movement

put a couple dabs of lanolin on that, and the surface just sorta wicks it up

wicked pissah :D

looks five times more evil now

Congrats Thorny!! Thats great news bud.

Been a little absent myself lately. Some personal issues came up but got situated. Back to normal!!

Drank a bit much last night. Just throwing darts, next thing ya know i have polished off most the 5th of Crown Royal XO. Man i love that stuff, wish it cost the same as regular crown though. No hangover and i never felt sick, i was very surprised. The amount i drank i normally would've been sleep by the toilet LOL.

Went to an outdoor huge archery range with my father the other day. He has a yearly membership there and we were the only ones there. Huge place over many acres through the woods. I took a Hoyt Ruckus that belongs to my grandfather, my first real experience with a compound bow. I like the release but dont like using the sight... Did ok, mostly grouped to the left of every target i shot at though. My father was going to practice for his next competition and was using his recurve, i just went along to try out a compound. Had a good time though.

Hope everyone has been well!

glad to hear everythings ok WW!

also, what all did you do to trick out your 10/22? I might be picking one up when I turn 18 in couple weeks and have been thinking about what I might want to do to it

Thanks Spike!!

Well, first ill say I dont have a 10/22, or any other firearm for that matter.... My wife does :D

Next ill say SHE hasnt done much yet, but once finished this is not the cheap way of going what so ever, SHE will have well over a grand in this rifle whenever its done. But thats likely to be a while from now....Especially after some recent crap but thats not important LOL

So far SHE has only Swapped stocks to an adtac rm4 stock and added a front bipod... Right now its still shooting factory everything except the stock. Using a cheap simmons scope. Still does pretty decent out to 100 yards. No complains on the gun except some FTEs. Im thinking once SHE swaps extractors and barrels thats going to disappear too.

The plan is an 18" fluted SS bull barrel, threaded with muzzle break (for looks), single stage 2 pound trigger, and extractor all from Tony Kidd. Oh and leupold optics. After seeing how that does she may change the bolt, receiver, and all.. There is really no telling LOL

Really SHE just enjoys doing it this way... picking how it looks and performs and putting it all together, also doing it this way you dont get hit with the huge price right at once and can save for each thing....but you can go out and get a nice bolt action gun for much cheaper and be damn near just as accurate out the door as this will be after over a grand invested.... Or spend the same amount at once and get a nice Anschutz or similar.

Really just depends on what YOU like :)

yeah, right now I'm thinking that i might just drop it in a magpul x22 stock, put a cheap scope and a bipod on it and call it good

Is it me, or does young Noswad have snarking abilities beyond his years? I'm thinking he may be a 45 year old curmudgeon-in-training pretending to be a 15 year old... I've heard people do that on the interwebz...

My parents raised me in the ways of the snark.

If that's true, he's gone an awfully long way to convince us otherwise (with the pudgy-faced selfies and whatnot) for no apparent reason.

Have you heard something I haven't heard? Perhaps in private? Involving lemonade and cupcakes and his parents not being home?

I'm just teasing! (snark)

It's also possible, and more likely, that not every young person today is a self-absorbed, willfully-ignorant twit. And may have actually had some exposure to/encouragement of critical thought processes. That's actually pretty encouraging.

Well, sometimes I am a self-absorbed and willfully-ignorant twit, but it goes with the territory. :D But yes, critical thinking is encouraged, but with a quick temper and a bit of a loud mouth it gets me in trouble fairly often. :D

Yes, the snark is strong with this one.
His snarkichlorian levels are off the charts.

Use the snark I must. Powerful it is. But yearning for power is the path to the Snark side, it is.

I actually meant it to be a compliment of sorts... :D

JT, of course, phrased it better than I. It does give one hope for this generation. A New Hope...perhaps...it would make a great movie title...

I think saying I have the snarking prowess of a 45-year-old curmudgeon in training is a darn fine complement. :D

In other news, I get to go to the beach this week. Got all of the schoolwork done ahead of time so now I get to freeze my buns off in ice cold, shark infested waters while looking for said sharks' teeth, but preferably those that have fallen out. :D I'll be watching you guys from afar. :p

P.S. If I'm not online to start it, one of you need to make another Firefly related snark.

WW, it's so awesome that your wife likes that gun, and that you are totally supporting HER in configuring it the way SHE wants it. SHE is a very lucky guy gal to have such a supportive....spouse. Plus, YOU have your knives; SHE should have something to play with, too!

Nothing wrong with that at all, looks like a nice stock!!

That's right, i try and be a good and fair husband... and all that other good stuff too :D

While typing that last sentence i can just imagine her facial impression if she read it HAHA!!!
