I can only baby this 'grail' for so long...

I finally got my hands on what I've always believed to be my grail knife. I told myself that if I ever do get this knife I will keep it in perfect condition for many many years until I can maybe one day sell it or pass it down to family. Now the trouble im having at the end of the first week is overwhelming. I want nothing more than to take this knife out and full on throw it in rotation. Nicks, Bumps, scratches.... the works. Anyone ever had this problem? Do I keep it for show and admiring? Or do I take care of it, yet give it all it can handle? Any experienced input would be appreciated View attachment 797309

This picture was posted by another member. It looks like a worn Sebenza but he claims it is known as a "bombed" finish and apparently it came from the factory like that.

See? Looks just like my worn in small 21.

The point being just carry it and it will wear as you do. Then once its worn you can claim that it was always like that and you got a rare "bombed" finish white micarta sebbie.

In all honesty though just carry it. Life is too short and even if you want to bring the knife back to new later you can just send it to the Chris Reeve knife spa.

On the subject of passing it down to your children-I have seen many posts about someone's most cherished knife being the one dad carried all his life. I can't remember any on the knife dad kept in his safe. Not that anyone wouldn't appreciate a nice new knife, just that the used one also carries memories. In many of those posts the knife itself wasn't that special, but the memories were priceless.
Your kids would get both the memories and a fantastic knife-that's a winner.

Got to use it. Every time I get something that I "baby" and don't use, I wind up liking it a lot less than what I do use, and will likely end up selling it.

Great Sebenza you have there! I picked up a small mammoth w/ raindrop blade a month or two back. Have carried it and used it when needed. Enjoy that thing!
