Lets face it; we have all said what the title says.
But then after a few weeks or months its not in our regular rotation, in a drawer, for sale, and or already sold.
Let's face it - half the fun is investigating, hunting for, package arrival, the unboxing thrills, and early honeymoon.

What I want to know is what is that one knife that has not lost it's appeal. The one knife that you have grown to love even more than when your first got it. The true keeper.

For me it is Small Sebenza 21.
What's yours?

carson Tech lab boiling. I have said "perfect" way too many times. But this is a true first for me. Usually new acquisitions will knock my current EDC out of my pocket even if it is for a short while. So far even new knives just either get sold off or collect dust as the appeal of this purchase just isnt dying. I have hesitated saying this because I didnt want to state it without truly believing it but I feel if chris reeve ever made a flipper this would be it. It just has that rock solid build combined with sexy simplicity but with the modern touch of top of the line bearing flippers. Its like if a large sebenza had a bastard child with a shirogorov. I upgraded my pivot to grade 5 ceramic bearings and the thing is the smoothest flipper I have owned and I have owned A TON of them. Best part is that this knife has a sealed bearing system (a true sealed system not just hiding the bearings in cut races) which simply doesnt get dirty. Another killer thing is that most bearing flippers I use a drop of oil on the detent to get that guillotine effect when you disengage the lock. This knife runs completely dry except for a small amount of my special lubricant blend in the sealed bearing system. I have carried the thing for a month and it doesnt even get pocket lint inside. Im in heaven and it will be some tough shoes to fill if anything is going to attempt getting it out of my pocket.

Neeley SA9, after I managed to sharpen it... The most perfect of its kind ever made, except the edge I think... Knowing it is #004 out of very few helps...

Walther BlackTac. It's really nothing special - a $20 unspecified 440 Chinese folder - but for some reason that I can't pinpoint, it's one of my favorites. Most "gun brand" knives are pretty awful, so I guess I'm just fascinated by one that isn't. Fascinated enough to buy a second.

Other than that, probably my Kershaw Groove. I wouldn't dream of parting with it. Oops, bought a second of that as well.

The Emerson CQC-9. So much so that when I stopped carrying tip-up on my right-hand side, I relegated it to be my left-hand carry even though I had never carried a knife on that side before.

Benchmade 950 rift, first knife I bought over $100 (forum price, not MSRP) and it immediately took over my main pocket, so thoroughly that I ended up selling all my main EDC knives except the Rift, leaving me with the Rift and 2 backup EDCs (ZDP Stretch and Native LW) that switch out the other pocket. Simple steel that's easy to sharpen and hold a working edge for a long time, plus it's fast to deploy, super ergonomic, and got the sexy looks too. Couldn't be more pleased. :)

Benchmade 940: First quality knife I got; the knife I've used the most. 15+ years (and 50 knives) later, and I'm EDC'ing the 940-1 because it's the most portable and versatile knife I own. The design is very close to perfection in my eyes.

I thought you just said you dont do production knives anymore?

If I ever lose/break it I will order a replacement with next day shipping.

As long as we get to talk about things we covet, here is one of mine,

Beautiful. One of the few makers who I feel truly undervalues their products. I always want to buy one but then when I see low prices for their wares I convince myself they have to be poorly made. Then I see them at shows and cant find a flaw anywhere and I regret passing on them. Still not in my price range but one of the best deals in a true custom knife.

Something about the native I just like I put it away and when I get back to it it stays in my rotation for weeks then away then back . I like the PM 2 but the sizes is a bit to big to carry at work .

My Kershaw Spec Bump. When I bought it eight years ago I thought that it was a novelty. Assisted opening, stud lock, weird blade shape, bulky handle like a fixed blade, ugly pocket clip; what's the point of this thing?

Then I started to use it. The weird blade shape made sense as the first 2 inches are like a Wharncliffe with just the right amount of tilt in the handle for push cuts and the last 1.5 inches after the bump are perfect for draw cuts on material. The handle is super comfortable in the hand and the pocket clip keeps the knife securely in my pocket which I can't say for many others. The stud lock works and the assisted opening flips the knife open every time without a wrist flick. The S30v steel stays sharp for a long time as I use it daily for light duty (desk knife).

I've bought and sold over 200 knives and I still love this one the most.

Just curious how you are lubricating a sealed bearing system with your own goo.
