I can't help myself, Craig's Sambar Stag Collection by Joe Houser.

And it was, "Wow that's cool".

"....would probably sell the stag 119, also have a 105-118-103 kinda match that"

That's when my heart began to beat faster...…..

Well you don't need to be collecting for long (heck I became serious, admittingly so, back last spring) to recognize that there is a difference between "stag" and Sambar Stag.
You can see the difference...…
I have been putting together a collection of Sambar Stag when I find it for a price I can afford, Elk handles when that's cool too.
The key to doing this, in my mind, is you have to be able to recognize opportunities when they arise.
That's why this website is such a valuable resource, as you get the chance to meet fellow collectors, many of which are awesome folks.

Bear with me.:)
Now when you have a collection of such treasure as a Sambar Stag 103,105,118 and 119. I can imagine that it holds a special place in your collection.
Lot's of folks may have one or two of said pieces.

I had other knife deals in the fire...……. but the thought of these...….. they took over anything else I had going on.
I couldn't get them out of my head. ;)

I made an offer to purchase 2...………….
The price for just the 119 was, well, very fair but still...…

But that didn't seem right. They HAD to stay together as a group. If I was looking to possibly sell them if I had them, that's what I would want...…
Isn't that what we all would want? ……for those special groups to stay together?

Do I? :D
Can I afford it?
Will the wife kill me?

Now I want to put this out there...…..
I have utmost respect for the man that found me worthy to have these pieces.
.....A collection of 100 series BUCKs, 2 line knives with "early" 440c blades, in brand new condition, Joe Houser customs with COAs...……
Holy Crap.

And I cannot begin to express my heartfelt thanks to him.
THANK-YOU!

MY GOD!
And he included a 102!!!!!!!!
That matches!
(and the little plastic stands to show them off!)

I e-mailed him to confirm I had received this package I had been waiting for, and to thank him, and to tell him how cool they were.

He replied, "cool glad you got it. That set was kinda special to me, they were made by Joe at my request"

JOE MADE THEM FOR HIM AT HIS REQUEST?
………….. my jaw dropped.

...and then there was one happy... That's about as good a story as I've heard, congratulations to you. You certainly have one of the most special set of knives that one could think up.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

that is one heck of a nice grab and collection there, Sir. congrats and thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks, ….a collection like this deserves it's own thread.
I wanted to label the thread "Craig's Sambar Stag Collection" I may if he likes this post.
The collection will always be labeled as his, as it was made for him...….

Thanks.
I'd really like to point out that in a way this set found me.
There are some great people here that I have done business with, and I've been pleased with every transaction.
Building a relationship, and being honest, prompt and trustworthy opens doors further when those same folks are looking for future caretakers of things they care about.
I know that's exactly what concerns me when it comes to the future of my prized pieces.
And I wouldn't have those pieces without the folks here.
So thank you.
It's sorta cool hanging out here too!
