... So I made my own!
This project has been in work since Dec 2008 and I finally was able to find time to complete it. I originally started out to make a frame lock folder out of a Scotch Dispenser, but soon realized that there just wasn't enough area for the lock engagement face due to the large ring hole near the ricasso. That discovery led to a lot of thinking over the years on how I could still make a folder out of the remaining blade. I even went as far to buy a couple of production Benchmade Axis lock knives, took them apart to see if that type of lock would work, but it didn't (so I took them back for a refund, heheheheh). Finally over this last Christmas, I was looking at it again and thought I might at least be able to make a friction folder since I wouldn't have to worry about a locking design. I used some desert canvas micarta scales I had taken off of another knife (I don't remember which now) as they seemed to be just the right size and fit in with being a all Busse parts knife. I'll add some words to each picture. It still needs some final touch ups here and there and a sharpening, but is pretty much complete. Let me know what you think. Now keep in mind, it is a friction folder and isn't ment to be a indestructable knife . I'm not sure it will be used much, maybe just a shop knife for light duties.
Here is how it started out:
The first cut:
Kind of looks like a little dog....
One of the first prototypes that didn't work.....
Machining the stops in the blade for the stop pin locations on the mill:
The hole in the blade was 3/16", but the holes in the handle were 1/4", so I made some stainless adapters for the pivot and one for the rear lanyard hole:
Here is the finished FOLDER:
