I Did It!!!!

Page, that would be awesome! I have all year to get better at making billets!

Cool Robert thanks! Hopefully see you next weekend, i am getting some 1045 for some hammers also.

i still have the verry first damascus i made its around 100 layers and made from rebar and a horse file. you will never forget that fealing

Excellent!

Sign me up for that informal damascus thing!

I may actually try welding something myself in the relatively near future. Not sure where I'm gonna get the time, but I have this bowie project that's bugging in the back of my head...

COOL JT! Maybe someone more expeirienced can aswer this question, but if i mill in a fuller will it show the layers, and all in the fuller will the line be squiggly or clear and straight? I am wanting to mill or grind in a fuller, and would like the boundary to be all squiggly instead of just as etched dark in the center and lighter on the outside.

If you want squiggly lines in the fuller you have to make the layers squiggly instead of flat and parallel layers .Then you will also get squiggly lines on the bevel. There should be some tutorials out there to illustrate this.

Well will the layer be uneven already from the hammering not being even? I know how to make the squiggles like ladder pattern and stuff. i wa sjust thinking they might be uneven enough from the hammer blows.

If you look at how wiggly the lines are on this blade, that's all from whackin' it with a hammer to draw it out and fold it. I'm pretty sure if I were to cut a fuller (or for that matter forge a fuller) I would get some wiggly lines

How uneven do you want ?....It's like your initials S.S- little kids would call it squiggly letter, squiggly letter !!
