I Don't Buy My Spydercos At Book Stores

I can only wish that NGK or KW would be within driving distance from me.
I used to have a store about 45 miles away. Everything at MSRP. I bought only one knife there, but it was a fun to visit them.

I buy most of my stuff from the Exchange; have been very happy 99% of the time. Some of my nicest folders come from our supporting dealers; my fixed blades from our custom makers, and they've always been great. Yes, I also purchase assorted merchandise, including folders, from Amazxx, because they generally have the lowest price (I live on Soc Sec) and an excellent return policy... which I've never needed to use.

Jonc123, your unwarranted dither about "Fakazon" seems to have given them a nice supporting lift. Perhaps, NOT your intent?

I didn't want to advertise for them. I have read many threads on this forum and subforum about problems with merchandise. Even some of the Spyderco knives have one star reviews that say fake in them. It's beyond me why they don't get rid of comments like that if it turns out the product is in fact genuine. I just hate to see anyone scammed because your right, money is hard to come by. Sometimes even the money is fake! The recent herbal product scare bothered me a bit...makes me wonder about the food in my pantry or the multi-vitamin I take or prescriptions which are bought and sold all over the place beyond this countries border.

I'll still stick with the BF supporting dealers, they have a reputation to uphold. That and in general, the employees at these stores seem to like what they do. I have only made it to a couple BF brick & morter stores, most are too far away.

I didn't mean to offend anyone. Sorry if I did. I just have lots of stress right now because my wife may kill me if she finds out I bought another knife. I am one step ahead...I never buy knives with red, blue or green scales. I only buy knives with black scales and satin blades for the most part, they all look the same to her! Funny thing, I noticed all her shoes were black...

LMAO. I thought I was the only one who did that!!!!!!

Not that she will kill me. I spend my toy money how I want. Just it cuts down on the "is that another knife" comments and eye rolling. ;)

I quit drinking beer & soda about 6 months ago for health reasons specifically my weight, blood pressure and also to stay hydrated better. Lost 30 pounds so I haven't been eating out. I have much more knife money now. I still kind of get that look and she says, "You got another knife, what do you need that for?".

The "look" is what bothers me, kind of the look that says maybe you should be locked up somewhere with padded walls.

Everyone has vices. At least you're buying 'useless' knives that can be resold versus dressing like a reindeer and running an online geopolitical assassination gambling racket. Five seconds on Google confirms a dozen vices that would give a priest the shudders.

Big mistake, huge.......my wife likes my dark green knives, especially 2013 forum Native and a Worker.
My greenish Terquise Kopa is her gift to me.

"I Don't Buy My Spydercos At Book Stores."

If you mean the Big River store, I do buy my Spydercos there. Also my Case, ZT, SAK, Leatherman, etc. The same place I buy my auto parts, dog food and pet supplies, coffee beans, CDs, music downloads, ebooks, RV supplies, hand and power tools, small kitchen appliances, clothing, footwear and pretty much everything else. Been doing this for years. Saved a lot of money and saved wasting a lot of time shopping. They don't have everything I want or need but when they have it you can't beat the convenience and service.

I trust completely that I'm getting an authentic product from amazon and if there's a problem they'll take care of it, amazon associates on the other hand...

My response to the EX ( Key word EX) I spent roughly the same amount of money as you did in two trips to the nail salon, I'll have this knife for years ... how long will those nail last? Don't take my advise though, I did say EX.

30, single and not looking. Life is good over here. ;)

Come to think of it though, I did buy my Delica and 940 on that site.

The only damn Spydercos I can find around here are at Bass Pro, and they're always blacked-out and have a combo-edge. I don't buy any knives like that anymore. There is one store that I've been to in the state, but it's nearly 3 hours away. I would like to buy from the guy next time I'm in town, because he was very, very nice and knowledgeable. A little tiny shop in a very old mid-west town, the guy spent a half-hour showing me everything he had, and he was very enthusiastic! It was before I had the bug, otherwise I'd have bought something. :)

There is always Cabelas in Dundee at 23 and M50...they have Spyderco knives.
Or, is that the place that is 3 hours from you?

There is Joe's Army Navy Surplus in Dearborn.... Telegraph rd just south of Ford rd.....they have a good amount of Spyderco knives as well.

When I buy a knife, I look for reputable internet knife dealers - and there are tons of them - and then find the lowest price among those dealers. I have never purchased one from a brick & mortar store (unless they happen to be the lowest internet price I can find). Why? You almost always get better prices from internet vendors. And among the big boy internet vendors - the ones from whom I buy - the customer service has always been first rate. Amazon's customer service is unsurpassed, just like you'll find from the eBay vendors who have 100K sales and 99.9% good feedback.

So, I can spend $169 for a Paramilitary 2 at a B&M store, or $115 online. That's not a tough decision. I would just as soon keep that $54 and buy another knife with it.

NGK are just as awesome in person as they are online.

Cabela's is about 2 hours away. I stopped at Joe's Surplus on Woodward last week, but the nicest knife they had was a Leek. The best one I've seen is in downtown Marshall, though I don't recall the name. The guy that owned the place was awesome! He would have shown me every knife in the store if I had the entire day to hang around.

It is a bit of a predicament though regarding buying B&M versus online. I love supporting local business if I can, but it's hard to justify a 25% price difference - especially when you're talking $100+.

Only A couple shops in the city that I live in carry Spyderco knives. Both retail their knives for more than MSRP. On top of that WA state sales tax is 8.9%. I buy from Blade HQ or on the secondary market rather than pay the inflated prices most B&M shops want to charge. I work hard for my money and spend it wisely.

I talked on the phone with Annie from NGK and Ashley from KW. Both of them are terrific. Still I bought two knives from Amazon, when they had sale after cyber Monday. I wasn't planning to buy these knives, but prices were so low, that I just could resist. Usually KW and NGK have very competitive prices and most of my purchases are coming from these two dealers, but that time difference was really big. Still my next knife came from KW.
