I Don't Buy My Spydercos At Book Stores

i would like to buy my knives from a locally owned store but my issue is selection. when I go to the store to buy a knife i have done the research and know exactly what i want, then i get to the store and they dont have the one i want to buy. this is especially the case with the higher end knives and limited edition versions. I usually dont have trouble finding a $40 kershaw, Its very hard for a store to be able to afford to have a large inventory of $100+ knives. People will buy a $40 knife as an impulse buy after just browsing but not many people will stop in just to look around and then spend $200 on knife. Those type of purchases tend to be more thought out (at least in my experiences)
buying online allows me to get exactly what i want and more people will take the time to review a online purchase. not nearly as many people will buy from a local store and then go online to post a review of the store.
I also prefer the return process online vs a local business,

So you don't like Amazon. Good for you. Just so you know though, they aren't just a book store and they employ plenty of " honest, hard working Americans".

Also, I'm sure there are some mom and pop type knife shops that sell knockoffs. Dishonest people abound everywhere. At least with Amazon you have a very good chance of getting your money back if you get a fake.

I remember the brick and mortar stores but they are very few and far between today, I also don't buy from FLEABAY, there are some great sellers there but there are also many crooks there are however a hand full of honest sellers online that I purchase from

For the record, the brick and morter store I was talking about in my first post in this thread is a popular large online knife retailer and a BF sponser. Every knife that I own except for one has come from that store.

I don't like to purchase anything from anyone who isn't doing everything they can to prevent dishonesty. Most of my conclusions about buying knives at places other than a "knife store" came from this forum and a few others. Certain store names keep popping up. I read some of the reviews at these stores claiming buyers are not getting what they pay for.

And yes, the big book store has great customer service if not the best.

Are there any reports from people that got a fake DIRECT from Amazon? Not associate sellers, which I treat as I would ebay.

Most of the ones I've purchased new were purchased from a drug store. ;) Only fair, considering how addictive Spydercos are. :D

As for Amazon, I use them for some things, but not for knives. Too many good online knife shops out there, including the one located in that drug store, New Graham Knives.

Good news here. Amazon will give you your money back without question, AND sometimes they will refund you without asking for the product back. So you get a free counterfeit knife! Amazon is huge and obviously has incentives not to be viewed as a peddler of cheap ripoff products, and design their customer support to handle such cases accordingly.

More good news... you're not very likely to get a fake on Amazon unless you deal with unrated sellers or ones with bad feedback. And if you do, see point #1 above.

What's the problem with Amazon anyway? No one likes them because they sell books? I thought books were a good thing.
