I don't buy this "Beckers are cheap" crap...

Beckers already cost as much as the ESEE's...a BK14 can be had for $38.95; the Izula for $39.95....both excellent bargains, same steels, nearly same epoxy finish, just a different blade shape.

BK2:$73
Esee 5: $170

BK7:$70
Esee 6: $131

Not quite.....someone's just trying to argue for the sake of argument.
And the finishes are nowhere near the same....perhaps in looks but that's it. Use both to baton through a piece of wood and you'll see what I mean

I guess I can't win today. I was flamed at the knife shop for saying how good Beckers were....I come to the Becker forum to say how awesome Beckers are and I still get flamed. I guess some people just argue for the sake of arguing....

I don't think people understood the point of the thread. Cause it is kind of an aggressive thread title.

At least you're not being ignored. :D I think the grit in the gears is the way you worded the original post. I had to read it a couple of times to realize what you meant. Some of the flamers may not be reading what they think they're reading, if you get my meaning.

edit: looks like CB and I were saying the same thing at the same time.

You're absolutely correct. Sometimes I don't express myself through text that well; I should have been an English major and maybe I wouldn't have that problem

"A folding blade is a bleeding finger"...I'm stealing that one and calling it my own!

I'm going to suggest everyone take a step back from the forum, grab your preferred blade, and beer, go outside make a one stick fire, enjoy the beer, then come back in and get on the forum again.

Don't get mad at Alnamvet, he just seems a bit argumentative today....

Nah, I'm not mad. He's entitled to his opinion. While it's true I don't get the chance to use my blades much, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that a Becker knife isn't about spit and polish. I guess I can use my knives more, and cut up a steak once in awhile with em'. :D

I know, I really wish I could edit the thread title. "Cheap" is more what I meant, bargain wasn't the best choice of words.

You know you can edit the title... What you might want to try though is something like "I didnt get my Beckers just cause they were cheap I got them cause they were the best ergos, etc."

But then nobody would read it....
but seriously, how do I edit it? I can't find a place to edit the title....

I have too many blades to use all of em all the time....and my back isn't strong enough to carry every one of them with me. Unfortunately, I am not one of the blessed people that live on a large plot of land and can just go into their backyard. It's a 2hr drive for me to get to the woods.

My collection includes beckers, esee, fallkniven, bhk, gerber, cold steel and so on but i always seem to grab a becker when i need a blade and i think if is due simply to the ergos. Price never enters my mind (even though it enters my wifes mind everytime i mention getting a new blade lol). The handle design allows for many grip types while being comfortable and secure. I do rough up the handles a little and they seem more secure in my hands and never feel like they will slip. I like using all my blades and and do see differences regarding blade steel and blade designs but for me the becker line just seems to check more boxes in what i need and what i am looking for. They have a great steel that i am comfortable with nice sheaths and great ergos... Nuff said.

Same here. About 3 hours for me. There's trees along the creek, about it.

Yes, Beckers are bargains for what you get when compared with ESEE & TOPS.
OTOH, Kabar has other knives in the same price bracket and so does Ontario.

Do I own/use Beckers only because of the price? no - otherwise I wouldn't own a "BK12" or BK10LE (which I promptly modded)
would I continue to buy them if the price jumped by half or more? depends on the blade - but then I haven't bought an ESEE since their last price jump, either. ;)
