the implication, I think, being - there was an order for x-number of knives by an actual unit somewhere (as in - some soldiers somewhere are actually issued a Busse, much less a Busse like the killer HG55) and there just happens to be some leftovers?

I dunno, I guess there are some high-speed commando-ninja outfits that have the funds and discretionary ability to do such a thing (order and issue Busse blades), but I never saw anything remotely that cool and unique when I served, so it just sounds funny to me. Are these going to other countries or something, who gets these things?

I'm most certainly not suggesting any bologna or untruths on the part of the fine folks at Busse, I guess I'm just curious about how such things work since I clearly don't understand. Anyone care to shed more light, maybe even an example of someone issued a Busse (other than the Embrace the Suck blades which are a bit different)?

And, obviously... I'm not looking to jeopardize OpSec or the like nor am I seeking to divulge any trade secrets - but I am curious to say the least.

Some domestic, some foreign. Usually special groups. IIRC, it's not usually tax-payer funded but a pile of guys that want something in common. Like the EH3 Swamp Rats. Or the Embrace the Suck SJTACs.
 
some times i think there might be some blanks left over that are slightly changed and busse kindly let us porkers have a shot at it.

Yeah, this sort of thing comes up occasionally, and we are all a little curious about the mil side of Busse. But they are VERY tight-lipped about it, so we are left to speculate and wonder.
