I don't get the "Mil. overruns"

I'll never tell Tony. Horton, however, has loose lips after a few shots of shine.

Personally , I could really care less *Why* ,,,,,,,,, just glad we get the chance to scoop them up and put them to use.

Damn,,,,,, I typed this @ post #5 ,,,,,,, now it's totally out of place. Is'nt this thread supposed to be about military overruns??????? not what it turned in to !!

Lance Armstrong's $10,000 stolen bike was just recovered and Tony has been AWOL... HMMMMMMM

This is true. Sad thing is, he's out there doing it, and we're in here talking about him. :p

True... HERE HERE...lets raise our glasses to Tony G in hopes he returns smelling of good women and cheap booze...errr. (reverse that..lol)

I heard that they offer the knives to the mil guys at a very low price and sell some to us to break even.

Mil overruns are the cool, I have a sterile ScrapYard MOD7.
I believe it was ordered by Marine helicopter pilots.
I also believe mine was one of two protos sent for testing as it is the only sterile one I have seen, it was also sold at the show with the one of a kind fully serrated MOD7 owned by ColdOne.

ok, as far as i can see the cost is clear, horton, tell us what happened next and NO QUOTES!!!

Geez.. a guy starts a relevant thread and the bullsh*tters dive in a ruin what could have been super informative. Nice job. :(

Why not just get a room?

Pipe down, or I'm going to resurrect some of your old posts. :p

the implication, I think, being - there was an order for x-number of knives by an actual unit somewhere (as in - some soldiers somewhere are actually issued a Busse, much less a Busse like the killer HG55) and there just happens to be some leftovers?

I dunno, I guess there are some high-speed commando-ninja outfits that have the funds and discretionary ability to do such a thing (order and issue Busse blades), but I never saw anything remotely that cool and unique when I served, so it just sounds funny to me. Are these going to other countries or something, who gets these things?

I'm most certainly not suggesting any bologna or untruths on the part of the fine folks at Busse, I guess I'm just curious about how such things work since I clearly don't understand. Anyone care to shed more light, maybe even an example of someone issued a Busse (other than the Embrace the Suck blades which are a bit different)?

And, obviously... I'm not looking to jeopardize OpSec or the like nor am I seeking to divulge any trade secrets - but I am curious to say the least.

Thanks.

;)

Back on track a bit. Units, Teams, Battalions, Platoons, whatever- usually have a budget. You can "Open-Purchase" items within your budget. Some places obviously have higher budgets than others. Some may also have people in charge of the funds who understand why a $300 knife really isn't that expensive, others may not.

The more expensive the order, the more hoops to jump through. Things have to get put out to bid, or a sole source justification has to be done. I could look up all the regs and such for you if you really want to know how it's legal. Or, you can just trust me ;)

But in short, YES- absolutely, military can purchase things from small businesses.
