I don't get the "Mil. overruns"

ok, as far as i can see the cost is clear, horton, tell us what happened next and NO QUOTES!!!

I want to know if Robin Williams was involved, and if so, was he delivering the ransom.

Back on track a bit. Units, Teams, Battalions, Platoons, whatever- usually have a budget. You can "Open-Purchase" items within your budget. Some places obviously have higher budgets than others. Some may also have people in charge of the funds who understand why a $300 knife really isn't that expensive, others may not.

The more expensive the order, the more hoops to jump through. Things have to get put out to bid, or a sole source justification has to be done. I could look up all the regs and such for you if you really want to know how it's legal. Or, you can just trust me ;)

But in short, YES- absolutely, military can purchase things from small businesses.

I see, well that explains a lot. Thank you for the answer, it's good enough. I guess I just never encountered much of it, but what do I know... lucky dudes, those who get such great gear. Let's drink....

Tony is straight as a SHBooM and Stinky Nuts is drunk!! AS a SKUNK!! I have talked to both on phone tonight!! thats the bottom line!! lol and military over runs are due to defense budget cuts in the middle of Heat treat!!

hmmmmmmmm.

I heard that for every instance of Giant Text you were committing to making a short sword out of .500 stock at no additional charge...

gosh, I don't know what to say - but thank you so much.

;)

It's already been said, although it's hard to sort through the pre-ganzaa drunks, but yeah, it's usually small specialized units, who have a discretionary budget and can choose their own weapons/tools. I'm sure Busse keeps the price down as do other major knifemakers for military orders. Jerry may not want to say which units in which branch have ordered Busse, but it's usually spec-ops guys in the various branches that order outside the usual military fare.

The other thing is that sometimes a small # of blades may be purchased to be given out as awards. Some PSG's I know did this;)

Question: What is the process for Military ordering knives for their unit? I am active duty and would love to hook my troops up!!

Darn it!!

I don't get enough of them, either.:grumpy:

Oh. I see the question was answered. And it was, perhaps, subtly different than the one I just addressed.

Never mind.:);)

I also think the term "military" is so broad it does not always mean field use or combat related.
Think of all the design proposals/rejections/tweaks that purchasing partys may go through, and the the group heirloom gifts, vet retirement gifts, etc.
