It certainly doesn't roll off the tongue and feels weird to say, I don't even know where the word comes from.

It's a strange word but it doesn't really bother me.

Hmmm. I like the word "choil" even though it sounds more like a verb or an adjective than a noun. You know, to choil away under the blazing sun. Or, the soup was choiling. At any rate, I prefer the word to the actual device.

It sounds silly. It looks silly typed out. Choil. Pass me the choil! How did such an uncool word get used on something as cool as a knife? Choil out.

Discuss...?

It's a word. Words are single distinct meaningful elements of speech or writing. Does mineral oil bother you? A fencing foil?

Do you not buy knives with choils? Why or why not? Do you find they do not function?

I mean, I like turtles. So what?

Ricasso is an awesome word. It fits swords and knives perfectly.

Choil is different. I’m never 100% sure I’m pronouncing it correctly.
