I don't like the word "choil"

I don't mind the word choil, but I think finger choils on big knives are dumb (though they're great when used to make a tiny folder provide a full grip).

Also, any time anyone mentions choils I think of the ultra-ergonomic jimpchoiltasticality of those stolen-valor scumbag knives:

It's important that we differentiate between "finger choil" and "sharpening choil".

A finger choil is that device, usually found on a Spyderco knife, that allows a user to choke up without cutting off a finger.
The sharpening choil is that part of a blade that Nick Shabazz always looks for and notes if not executed perfectly.

Personally, I have a hard time with "backspacer". It is not a back spacer. It's a handle slab spacer. Sheesh.

Further, who's to say "choil" shouldn't be pronounced "Ko-Ill". (not to be confused with Kal-El)

Hmmm. I like the word "choil" even though it sounds more like a verb or an adjective than a noun. You know, to choil away under the blazing sun. Or, the soup was choiling. At any rate, I prefer the word to the actual device.
Choiling away on a choosdee!

I like to bolster about my ricasso bolognese: makes my kids jimp out of joy ... a bit tang for the wife though.

Jimping is mine. I didn't hate it till Youtube and that certain youtuber made it popular. Now I forever hear it in that voice, and associate with his fans, who thought jimping was the greatest thing since sliced bread. "Does it have jimping?", "aggressive jimping", "jimping on the frame, spine, and lock", it's maddening.

Not huge on "slip joint" either, but I can live with that.

Instead of "jimping" we could use "splinesnurting"!

I generally go “choil-less.” Unless we are talking about sharpening...then im all choils. Haha.

I dont like big choils tho...tiny choils are better...lol
