Yep, i was cutting some string and i dropped the knife on a tile floor,,,slight chip in the blade 1 inch down from the tip and the tip is a bit smashed in......Guess its going to spyderco....ill put up some pics tomorrow

Suuuck! You have my deepest sympathy ;) Really though, that sucketh most horrendous. I haven't yet had the misfortune of dropping one of my blades on tile...yet.

Ouch! I would be kicking myself HARD if I dropped my spydie's edge in such a fashion... My sincere condolences, sir.

Surprised that thick tip on the Delica 4 couldn't handle the tile better than that.

It was like ceramic tile, not lineoleum,,,i also noticed that when they ground the blade there was some extra material ground out of one side of the blade near the spine, near the tip like it dips in a small bit

From a glass half-full perspective, at least the blade isnt in perfect shape sticking in your foot.

I'd guess many of us have dropped a knife...not that we like to admit it.....I just take as a reminder to pay attention more to what I am doing.

I did the same to my para a while back, didnt realize I could send it in for that so I just worked it into the best point I could...sorry to hear that tho

Eh, that's what happens when you buy cheap crappy knives....

:D before y'all start sending death threat, Just Kidding!!

Sorry to hear about that man!

It's refreshing to hear someone be honest about it for a change rather than starting a thread about how they were cutting some light cardboard for the first time and a half inch of knife snapped off while slicing.

i have the sharpmaker and my skills are meager at best,,,ballsagne,,by reading you post where you said "i just worked it into the best tip i could" i think you left a word out of your post "not" that is, where you said i realized i could send it in .....well im not going to attempt to fix it,,,blade still has a good edge and i dont want to destroy the edge by using the grey stones, mabey ill put in a vice and snap it in half and call it a day!

my thoughts exactly.. but then again spydercos IMO arent really hard use knives... but it shouldnt chip from a simple drop..

ive dropped my emersons, benchmades ,ZT's, and kershaws (yes im clumsy) not a chip in sight...

ooh ooh...if it gets sent to the spa, this would be the perfect opportunity to have them serrate the first inch of edge...ive always liked serrs at the tip rather than the choil end, like the SAKs :D

I had a vintage 1950's Italian switchblade. I showed it to a friend and he let it fly out of his hand and the blade hit the tile floor and snapped in half.

I feel your pain.

Spydies aren't hard use knives?.....first I heard of that.

well its just MY opinion and i wasnt trying to bash the company... i own about 15 spydies myself but when i think hard use ....i reach for a ZT or a BM before a spyderco... i use my spydies for things like cutting boxes etc primarily slicers in my opinion... my Centofante 3 is one of my fav edc light use knives ever.. and replaced my kershaw leek for carry
