If you carry a cup you might as well put light stuff in it like paracord or a tarp
 
I always have at least one metal flint somewhere on me, usually attached to a knife!

Currently I carry a small MFS attached to my Becker Necker lanyard in my front pocket AND a BSA Sparklight attached to a Vic SAK Executive on a bracelet braided from paracord.
 
For me a pot is second, closely followed by firestarting implements. My favorite pots are the ones that will nest around a large nalgene bottle (e.g., Snowpeak). You can have a complete kit inside the bottle in the pot -- very convenient. In fact, I only use packs or bags (like Maxpedition versipack) that will hold a small pot with the nalgne nested in it, even if I'm only dayhiking.
