I finally found my grail EDC

I don't want to rain on the OP's parade, but this looks a lot like a Shirogorav 95 knockoff to me. Am I missing something? I guess for the money it's a real steal.

I quite possibly have found my edc grail. This knife hits all my “nice to have” and “must have” points right on the head! I’ve had several Chris Reeve Sebenzas and Umumzaans. I once had a Demko AD10. Two Hinderer XM-18’s. I’ve had countless Benchmades, Spydercos, Kershaws & ZT’s, Cold Steels, Bokers, Cases, Schrades, Bucks, Lion Steels, a Ruike, Brous, CRKT’s, DPX, Gerber, Kizer, SOG’s, Victorinox, and a few brands that I’m ashamed to admit to owning. Many of these were great knives but for one reason or another left me less than totally satisfied and kept me searching for my edc grail. I recently purchased a Real Steel “Sea Eagle” and after examining, carrying, and using the knife for a while now I’ve been completely satisfied with all characteristics of this knife. It has become my absolute favorite edc blade of all time. Some of its best features include a full flat ground blade with a good sharp point, mild belly, thumb ramp, and is of a good quality stainless steel. I love bearing flippers and this one has it. It opens very comfortably, smoothly, and lightening quick with a mild flick of the finger. The handles are stainless steel with G-10 inset overlays and are very ergonomic. The knife fits my hand perfectly and feels very secure when gripped. The pocket clip is very secure and simple in construction. It clips onto the pocket reliably and with little effort. It has a G-10 back spacer with one large polished contoured stainless steel standoff on the rear of the knife. The whole knife has a very simple, not busy, look about it with only two large fastener heads showing on either side. I like this knife so well I’ll probably pick up a carbon fiber scale one just to have a set of them. What do you other Sea Eagle owners think of yours?

And I think it has nice clean lines but looks pretty generic. Then I found some pictures of the Shirogorov 95. I like its look also, but I also think it looks pretty generic. Similar appearance, but I wouldn t call it a knockoff. Wonder how they would feel side by side. $50 vs $1295.
I d rather have the Real Steel for 50 than the Shirogorov for 600. Fortunately I ve been blessed with simple tastes . Frugality has served me well.

Thanks for your perspective. I was genuinely curious as I've seen people get roasted here for praising knockoffs and then other stuff seems to get a pass. I don't know where the line is, but it seems like most in this thread agree with you on this one. And yeah, I'm not buying the $1,295 knife either, but that's just me.

I also noticed the similarities to the Shiro 95; however, there are enough differences that I wouldn't call the Sea Eagle a knockoff.

Re: the carbon fiber scales on the Sea Eagle, they are smooth with no texture, and I would have preferred the G10 for better grip.

Finally, to close on a positive note, I really enjoy the 14C28N steel on the Sea Eagle and always found it easy to get wicked sharp, and it held a decent edge.

I don’t know what it is about Sandvik steels but they get stupid sharp super easy.

Update-pics added to post 16. Thanks for looking guys.
Dang; NOW I CAN SEE IT! ! !
I much prefer YOUR photos to the catalog photos posted.
I must say I like the knife. The blade shape reminds me some of my Holdouts that I enjoy.
Good texture on the handle looks like.
Robust
nothing stupid and in the way.
Good knife !

I had one in carbon fiber but sold it last year; after seeing these pics I might want to get another...

I think it's very honest of you to judge a knife on its merits and not by it's price or hype or exclusiveness. I have one and it has many good qualities including a very light weight and a clean elegant look. Unfortunately mine has a very weak detent which allows the blade to open with a relatively weak shake. But the bearings are so smooth (as on all the Real Steels I've handled) it still flips pretty well. I guess I should try to adjust the lockbar before giving it up for sale.

Great choice OP. I got both of ‘em. Huge fan of the silhouette, and really love the design of the lockbar. Easy to access, thick, tension isn’t too high. And 14C28N sharpens up like nothin’! Very nice offering for the price

Historically, the sandvik and norse steels in general were known for their naturally occurring fine grain structure. The ore itself was of higher quality, if history is to be believed.

I don't know if that is really still the case, but mora and others owe some of their historical fame to that :) This all translates to 'sharpens up like nothing!'

I certainly would. It’s worth a try. I took mine apart when I received it due to having some grit in the bearings. The knife is very easy to take down. Two Allen heads on the outside and a couple Torx hidden under the scales.

This is exactly my thinking. Very clean and simple design. Not a “busy” design with screw heads everywhere.

I have one and it's one of my favorite designs EVER . . . BUT the steel dulls so quickly alas. Also due to only one screw securing the pocket clip it's easy to accidentally swivel the clip and scar the surrounding G10 scale.
It does have some passing similarity to a Shiro, but the thumb ramp makes the Sea Eagle more ergonomic IMHO

I had to try one out. Just got it and it was dull out the box. Has no detent at all. Would be afraid to carry it clipped tip up, like it comes. I'm not at all impressed seems pretty cheaply made IMO. It is sharp now after I sharpened it and it does flip ok to not have a detent. 58 dollars? Don't feel like it's a deal at that price even.

Sounds like you got a dud. I’d send that one back for an exchange.
