I finally understand that anything can be a reason to get a knife

I got an XL Vaquero Voyager.

I won't really carry it for EDC.
For anything that requires a blade of such size - I have a fixed blade.
I won't use it for tasks that you usually use a folder for either.
I most likely won't use it at work, garden or forest... or maybe at all.

So, why do I have it?.... - it just puts smile on my face.

I don't know why, but I just love this knife. It made me smile first time I picked it up, and even now it still does that.
I guess sometimes the purpose of owning something is just because it makes you happy.

That is it! I have had people make comments about me using a Buck 119 as a hunting knife because they thought it was too big, maybe it is for them but I like it and want to use it. We are all in this hobby for the enjoyment, so we should go with what makes us happy, and not always worry about what others think or always being "practical". Sometimes I think too much, and just have to tell myself it is OK because I like it

Congratulations, you have a great knife!
But why not EDC it? I EDC knives like Cold Steel Large Luzon or Black Talon 2, they fit into my pants pocket and they're not too heavy, so why not carry them? as long as you have pants with pockets deep enough.
Just love big knives.

Here we have laws that you can carry what you can justify needing.

I can't justify carrying this anywhere else except forest, going for a run or walking my dog.

On the other hand, even Matriarch2 Emerson (which I use and has some wear and tear) is no problem, as I am warehouse worker and just say I use that talon for tape, boxes, plastic ties and so on or whatever else.

Hey, glad you're happy with the purchase. That's one I don't have yet, though I've considered it from time to time. I like and EDC some other Cold Steel bigguns, depending on what I plan to do, or whatever mood strikes. They're still loads of fun for cutting things big or small.

Next, you need to get the Rajah 2. That thing made me laugh when I pulled it out of the box. :D

Once that wears off, the only thing to do is get the Espada XL. That is the ultimate in the sort of happy you are speaking off.

My XL Vaquero still makes me happy though, and I have the other two as well. ;)

Cold Steel excels at making knives that I have no use for, but I buy because they make me smile.

Well I agree as my talwar xl and Voyager xl was the same way but you may accidentally find it is great for cutting cake at birthday parties away from home, cutting up rags quickly and frankly quite a lot of things you didn't expect. They work in back pockets and cargo pants very well. No need to use it but don't not use it because it's large.

Makes you happy. Okay. BUT, here is photographic evidence that you have already positively multiplied that happiness to others by a factor of at least a couple dozen (and counting, no doubt).;)
