I finley found a W2 Supplier

Robert: Stop by some day and you can see. $10.00 is what Rex is selling our new supply of 52100 for in round bars from 3" to 1". Blade makers are truly fortunate when we can find a consistent supply of high quality steel.
The cost of the steel is the best investment we can make in our knives.

I agree totally, like most of us I started making knives with "recycled" steel. After having to figure out heat treats, dealing with stress cracks that showed up after finishing and testing a blade and the screaming, cussing and crying. I figured that it wasn't worth the time or effort to invest my time and energies into a steel that I couldn't look a customer in the eye and tell him where it came from. I use and love my Aldo 1084 and can tell them it came from a cantankerous guy from New Joisey that's a great man.

I called them and requested a quoto them i emailed them for a quote but did not hear back from them. I will call them back and make a stink. It might just be better to just do a custom melt then we know what we get is what we want. We could even tweek it a bit to fit our needs better. I will call agen and see whats going on. I'm guessing that the larger the order we do the better the deal.

JT, Can we get the same specs as Don's W2?
- If I had a power hammer, I'd get some from Don.
- Mitch

Troop there is some 3/4 to 1" round die forged W2 bars coming to the market soon; power hammer not included. The price I heard was about 6 bucks a pound. We have the steel but the hammer isn't running yet... no set date on when it will be available.

JT you might want to talk with Aldo, he is a good fella (pun?:D). I'm sure he would help you... I hope this works out.

Dan, Please keep me posted. I'm starting to get antsy and pay crazy prices for some 2 x 24 at knifekits.com. (I don't think Aldo can get any.:grumpy:..He told me that "They're not making it anymore".) BTW, you killed me with the "Goodfellas" pun!:D You know, wouldn't surprise me in the least!
Thanks,
Mitch
