I found my Perfect Knife

If I were female, I'd be a knife-nymph... sounds better than a 'knife-stud/player/cassanova'.

I'm still drooling over the new Buck Kalinga Pro 408B in S30V... a bit hard to get now. I guess my Buck Alaskan Guide (Al-Ti-N coated S30V blade) 192 Vanguard is pretty good as a fixed blade - it's folder cousin, the AG110 beats my custom Dam and BG-42 110s. Plus - it's more readily available - and affordable.

PS I recently got one of their wood/brass 'General' - 120 BR - it's like a mini-sword - and had my attentions for a while. I'm a knife-slut, what can I say?

I found my Perfect Knife

Thats what everyone says until they find another one they like. Thats the worst part of being a knife collector, theres always something out there you might like the much better. edge quality, handle material, blade style, opening system, locking method, grip. Theres to many to choose from

I'd say that my perfect knife is my CRK large Micarta Inlay with serrations. I sent it to Arkansas for the Tom Krein treatment and man I didn't believe that a knife could get so sharp. Tom did such a great job for such a reasonable price it just doesn't make sense for me to try it myself. My sebbie goes from my pocket to open in my hand in the blink of an eye and I don't even have to think about it.:thumbup::p

I have always found the perfect knife to be the one you dont have:grumpy:

So I buy that one...and then another one is perfect....its a vicious cycle.
That's the best Quote yet:thumbup: It's so true, after a couple day's with a new knife, that was to be your one and only, for ever and ever.
You go to your favorite blog or just peek at what's new and %^%$
another MUST HAVE shows up. :D They need a Knives Anonymous, for those so inclined.

Kershaw full-sized plain-edge Cyclone. I took the pocket-clip off and carry it in a horizontal belt sheath. Perfect.

Found mine. Benchmade 710 D-2! :thumbup::D:thumbup:

that's the closets to perfect I have at the moment. If it didn't have that recurve, it'd be perfect. Actually I'd like 154cm maybe. or not d2 is swell. son of a... I'm just nuts. there is no perfect knife. Just like there's no perfect truck or car.

Finding the perfect knife is like finding the perfect women. Currently Im still looking and trying things out.

I find my perfect knife and my perfect woman about once a month.
Today I got a Strider ED in the mail and I love it. It is my first skeleton knife.
I can't belive how easy it is to carry ,now I regret not buying that Microtech
necker. I do have a few SwampWarden coming though. I love the feeling of being pleasantly surprised. I love how sharp and ergonomic the handle on the ED is.

I've had a BM 710D2 for about 6 months and to me it's almost the perfect folder. I was leery of the recurve at first, but after using it I love it. You can use that curve in lots of useful ways and it makes a powerful slicer on a draw cut. A 710 without a recurve would rate lower in my estimation now.

I've thinned the edge to somewhere between 10 and 15 degrees per side and its seriously sharp and holds an edge really well. No matter how much I polish the edge though it still feels a bit toothy, which aids in slicing but has me worried that it may chip if it hits for instance a staple when slicing through cardboard. But until that happens I'm keeping the edge thin and giving Benchmade's D2 a big thumbs up.

The only thing that keeps me from giving it an A+ is the thumbstuds. If they were only a smidgen longer so that their edge protruded past the scales, like the Axis lock studs, it would be easier to open, though I have no problem opening it the way they are now. I've heard that it is possible to get custom thumbstuds so even this flaw can be remedied by the user.

Kershaw full-sized plain-edge Cyclone. I took the pocket-clip off and carry it in a horizontal belt sheath. Perfect.

Glockman you are the only reason I am looking at the cyclone and the junkyard or other wise i would not even give them a second look. maybe one day i'll see exaclty what you see in them.

take care
